The NFL players union has discussed a boycott of the scouting combine later this month with player agents.
Two people familiar with the talks tell The Associated Press the union has suggested keeping potential 2011 draft picks away from the combine in Indianapolis and from other draft-related activities while there is no collective bargaining agreement. The people spoke anonymously because they are not authorized to give out the information.
It's an interesting dynamic to get individuals who are not yet NFL players and thus not members of the union involved in the labor dispute.
"There are five real good recruits in the state. We got three of them. One couldn’t get into school, and the other went to (the University of) Iowa...which is about the same thing." - Coach Johnny Orr
that's just gutless. Using the players who's salaries they are trying to restrict as the tool they choose to fight with. If they really wanted to make a statement they could boycott the Super Bowl forcing it to be moved back two weeks. (Daytona weekend)
You'd think the agents would be the tough ones to get to go along with it. I mean, it's basically taking money out of their pockets. Then again, a rookie salary cap is also going to take money away from agents, so maybe they might be easier to convince.
"What a horrible night to have a curse."
-Simon Belmont
"Please bury me with all my stuff, because you know it's mine..."
-Master Shake
"Passersby were amazed by the unusually large amounts of blood."

Agents are commissioned salesmen. They are at the mercy of both sides.
So what if I show up at the combine and record the fastest 40 time at 5.6 sec? With my 12 inch vertical I think I'd be a very intriguing prospect at middle linebacker at 5'8" and 240 pounds. Could possibly go #1 overall.
