Not to mention the title/headline of the article!
Re: Things Got Really Bad for Dusty in Chicago...
Cubs loss is our gain. Not suprised at all a Cubs fan would do that.

Enjoy him while you still think he is a good manager. It will catch up with you, just like it did the rest of us.

He didn't do anything to embarrass himself in San Francisco...
Re: Things Got Really Bad for Dusty in Chicago...
Dusty came for a paycheck. He had serious financial issues when he left SF.

That has nothing to do with his managerial performance...or were the Cubs just acting as a welfare agent in hiring a manager that hadn't performed well but needed a large salary? He did alright for himself in the Bay Area...so well that he was the biggest "free agent" in the managerial market when the Cubs hired him.

He was criticized throughout his time in San Fran for rarely making the playoffs, and ******** the bed when he did get there. Than he jumped ship to the Cubs the second he proved that he could manage in the playoffs in 2002.
The guy has 17 playoff wins in 5 trips to the playoffs; 10 of those wins came in 2002 when he went the the world series with the giants, and 6 of them came in 2003 with the Cubs. He has 1 other playoff win between the other 3 appearances.

Did he do something with Russ Ortiz in the World Series when he thought they had it won? Didn't he like give him the game ball on the mound, or something like that, only to have them end up losing? Granted, it's nothing compared to the embarrassment of his time in Chicago, but it's something.

He didn't bring much of a work ethic to Chicago.
That's why his welcome wore out and someone took
a dump where he stands in the dugout.

Dusty has proven he could win and get to the playoffs in SF, Chicago and Cincinnati. It's not like the guy is a bum. The Cubs are always doomed to fail, it doesn't matter who's managing them

He has also proven more times than not that once he get to the playoffs, he sucks.

As a lifelong Giants fan, I felt the way about Dusty leaving the same way everybody on this board felt about Gmac leaving ISU. Thank you Tribune Company! He is the SOLE reason I had to wait almost ten more years to win a World Series, and this years team had half the talent. The Giants players made Dusty look good til it came to crunch time and you had to make managerial decisions. Then the real Dusty Baker stood up. Sorry, rant over.
