2 Lottery picks for the Cavaliers

I am not a Cleveland Cavaliers fan, and I have no idea if anyone on this site is either. However, after their trade with the LA Clippers, Cleveland now owns 2 Lottery picks in this years draft. Not a bad way to start rebuilding your team. I say they should draft Derrick Williams out of Arizona and if they get the chance, Kyrie Irving from Duke. Now this is all hypothetical if these guys declare and if the Cavs get high enough picks to grab them. Anybody have opinions on this or anything different?

Looks like they will have the #1, #8 in first round then 1st pick in 2nd round. Irving and Williams are project 1 and 2 so thats not happening.
I could see Williams then Kanter, Perry Jones, or Sullinger if he comes out.

While two lottery picks is obviously good, this may not be the best year to have them - talent experts are already predicting there won't be any standout stars in this draft, even though the talent in this draft might be deeper than usual. In other words, the Cavs might pick up some nice role players, but they're not going to find their next LeBron in this draft. And, as has been mentioned in a previous thread, the Cavs don't want to get "too good" on role player talent because then they could find themselves mired in the #8 seed area because you're not good enough to make runs in the playoffs and at the same time you won't be able to draft difference players.

Maria Sharapova: Don't you beat up other guys for a living? I don't know how to answer this.

Let me just say there is no Lebron James in this class, so its a bad year to have that #1 pick.

I do like some second rounders like Bayor's Dunn or Providence's Brooks (who just dropped 52 on ND)

is it really going to matter? there is no one in this years draft that is going to turn that franchise or any other franchise around.

the nba is a sinking ship, and the latest trades with melo, etc, ar going to cause further disdain with the fans. i just don't see how having 4-5 "superteams" is good for any league. stern wants the league to be globalized, yet it's losing popularity in the country it's played.

But lets be serious overseas basketball is a joke, the NBA would dominate everything over there.

Weak draft. Cleveland will suck until the end of time.

How is it losing popularity? It has set all kinds of ratings records this year, the All Star game was the most watched since 2002. The NBA loves these super teams. That's what brings in the casual fans. Casual fans aren't going to watch a Milwaukee-Indy playoff matchup but they will watch a Miami-Boston or Miami-NY or Boston-Chi series. The NBA was at it's all time most popular when the league was filled with "super teams" in LA, Boston and Philly.

It's never a bad year to have a number one pick, this isn't football, they won't be stuck with a huge rookie contract on an unproven guy. Kyrie Irving is probably the best pure pg to come out of college since Deron Williams/CP3 did in '05. Enes Kanter also has the potential to be a beast. The Cavs could come away with a really nice duo of players here, Irving and Perry Jones or Kanter or Terrance Jones would be a real nice start.

who are these superteams gonna play when the losing money market teams fold? and you made my point-no one will watch the first 3 rounds of the playoffs, because no one cares about all but 4 teams.

you have more teams losing money then probably ever before. memphis, sacramento, new orleans, etc.

how long till durant decides-i don't like it in oklahoma city-i want to play in a major market and leaves that franchise buried?

So there will be a total of 5 good teams in the league after that it is just a crappy league.

There's five "super teams" in the east alone. Two of them are going to be matched up in the first round, and the second could feature nothing but matchups between these teams. So plenty of people will be watching the first three rounds.

Considering Durant just signed an extension this summer it will probably be a long time.

Id imagine that they will take either Irving, PJIII, or Sullinger with their first pick.

That worked pretty well for the NBA in the 80's.
