Overhyped NFL draft picks in history

He was overhyped, but at least he has had a long successful career. not a probowler like everyone thought but a consistent player, where most of these other guys aren't even in the league.

Agreed. He was a "kinda" bust. Very good guard, but you don't draft even an elite guard with the #2 overall pick.

I'm no Tebow fan, but its true, no way to judge him yet. In fact, he played a little better than I expected last year.

I'm not sure you can hang "bust" on a guy that started his career at Oakland. That organization is a ****ing soup sandwich.

Gallery was a bust, he was the number 2 pick. I have heard rumblings that people think he was possibly on the roids in college and that is one explanation for his poor play.

That being said I really hope the bears sign him to play guard.

I agree with tm, he was badly drafted. If you really thought he was a bust you wouldn't want him for the Bears.

"Kinda bust" is more accurate.

If a player is an "okay" player on a bad team, is he still good? #2 draft pick and if oakland doesn't take him then someone elese would have taken him early. He didn't live up to the hype so by definition he is a bust. he didn't even make it at the position he was drafted and had to move inside. It will be interesting to see where he moves andhow many teams are looking to obtain his services. That will really tell his true value.

Okay, I get it, the guy is a bust. I'm merely implying that he doesn't reach the level of Ryan Leaf or Tony Mandarich. He is still playing after all and I wouldn't mind seeing him with the Bears (my team).

Yeah, he was drafted higher than he should have been, but he's had a solid career in the NFL despite not being in the best of situations in Oakland. I'd call him a disapointment, but far from a bust.

Yeah, bust is too harsh of a word. He has had a decent career, but not what you would want from the #2 overall pick

He was picked way ahead of where he should have been, but I wouldn't call him a bust. A bust is the type of guy that is out of the league in 2 or 3 seasons. He has played decently at guard.

With that said, the title of the article was about overhyped draft picks, which he was definitely one. Part of it was his long hair and massive size, which garnered a lot of attention.

Gallery is not even the biggest bust in Oakland history. Jamarcus Russell takes the prize. Gallery is starting and playing in the NFL, not sure how you can call him a bust.
