Ray Lewis: If No NFL Season, Crime will Increase
One of the consequences of a lost NFL season will be an increase in crime, Baltimore Ravens linebacker Ray Lewis said in a wide-raging one-on-one interview with ESPN. “ Do this research if we don't have a season -- watch how much evil, which we call crime, watch how much crime picks up, if you take away our game.
” -- Ray Lewis "Do this research if we don't have a season -- watch how much evil, which we call crime, watch how much crime picks up, if you take away our game," Lewis told ESPN's Sal Paolantonio.
That's because, Lewis said, the NFL lockout affects "way more than us" -- the owners and the players.
"There's too many people that live through us, people live through us," he said. "Yeah, walk in the streets, the way I walk the streets, and I'm not talking about the people you see all the time."
When asked why he thought crime would increase if the NFL doesn't play games this year, Lewis said: "There's nothing else to do Sal."

Ray Lewis knows. He knows first hand that when he has an off week, people may get stabbed to death.

Maybe if we change it from a lock out to a lock up, we can keep america safe from the wayward NFLers with too much time on thier hands!
Nothing to see here mods. Keep moving. -

I think it's a shame that guys like Ray Lewis and Rashard Mendenhall waste their lives away playing a silly game like football. We really need to get these to guys to form some sort of think tank, we need to harness all that brain power they posses.

They say country music speaks to the heart. Unfortunately, it has to go through your ears to get there. -

There are so many options in the league. Maybe the Lewis-Mendenhall Center for Societal Genius could have 2-3 rotating fellowships. That would keep a focus on the two main thinkers while still providing society with valuable insights from a range of thinkers.

Looks like it's starting already
Free-agent running back Garrett Wolfe, who played for the Bears the last four seasons, was arrested early Sunday in Miami Beach after he refused to pay a bill of nearly $1,600 at a local nightclub, police said.
Wolfe, 26, has been charged with retail theft over $300, assaulting a police officer, resisting arrest with violence and disorderly conduct, according to Miami-Dade County booking information. He was being held on $11,500 bond and, according to county records, was still in custody Sunday evening.
The news, first reported by Pro Football Talk, came a day after Wolfe had traveled to Miami, where he has spent some time in the extended offseason. Wolfe tweeted several times Saturday, including a reference to being invited to end-of-the-world parties.
Miami Beach Police Det. Juan Sanchez said Wolfe was at a club called Cameo early Sunday when he refused to pay his bill and got angry with employees. Bouncers removed him and called police. Officers gave him the opportunity to settle up with the club, but he again declined, according to Sanchez.
Wolfe "charged the officers," Sanchez said, and two officers suffered minor injuries in the scuffle. In his arrest photo, Wolfe appeared to have scrapes around his left eye.
Wolfe played at Holy Cross High School before starring at Northern Illinois. He was a third-round draft pick by the Bears in 2007 and a core special-teams performer the last two seasons, but the Bears did not tender him an offer as a potential restricted free agent. So when the NFL resumes business, he will be unrestricted. Former Chicago Bears running back Garrett Wolfe arrested in Miami - chicagotribune.com -

It's easy to make fun of the guy, but to be honest with you I wouldn't be surprised if it was slightly true.
