How long will Mike Quade last?

The soon to not be bottom dwelling Houston Astros just swept the Cubs in Chicago. How much longer do you think Mike Quade remains the Cubs Manager? They are heading south fast.

Just past the all-star break. I was not cool with this move to begin with, hasn't worked out well. Bad luck, injuries, and whatnot...wish him the best, but he will not be a manager for much longer.

At least until the end of NEXT season...they aren't going to fire a guy that everyone likes after 2months, ESPECIALLY in a season where they don't have high expectations. The is baseball, not the NFL.

The talent just isn't there right now, and everyone knows it, and that will buy Quade some time. WAAAY too early for a thread like this.

I doubt he'll last too long but I couldn't have signed Sandberg either and he was my hero as a kid.
I think everyone knows that they wouldn't be in contention this year and until some of the big contracts come off the book. I hope he can ride the tide and finish with more than 70 wins given what he has to work with.

He will make it the entire season. It isn't his fault that the Cubs signed a bunch of roided players for a **** ton of money that aren't producing and then all the injuries on top of that.

Speaking of the Cubs, former Cub Ryan Theriot had an RBI single tonight that pushed Theriot's hitting streak to 15 games, the Majors' top active streak.

And Quade will get this season and probably next. He's got roughly nothing to work with right now.

I've always liked Mike Quade since he was the manager of the I-Cubs, and I don't think getting rid of him would help solve the problems Chicago has had. To me, it had been the players under performing. If you look at what some of our players are being payed this year and the production we're getting from them it is clearly obvious we signed a lot of bad long term deals that haven't panned out. For example, is it Mike Quade's fault that Soriano is making $19 million this year?

The Cubs were expected to have a rebuilding year, and could have over $70 million free up after this year to make some moves in the offseason. As cliche as it is to say, I'm already looking forward to next year. I think we have a future franchise player in Starlin Castro, and should try to build the team around him. To answer your question though, unless the Cubs really tank it the rest of the year (not looking good so far), I don't think he would be out after this year. I think he's given a longer leash since the team has faced big personnel changes with the manager, players, and ownership recently.

The starting pitching has sucked, some of which is due to injury, some not. Larry Rothschild is missed.

Great post and I think you hit the nail on the head.

When you lose two of your starting pitchers in the first couple weeks of the season, it's not a good sign. The rest of the year so far has been going that way for them.

I'm also looking to next year and believe we have some great youth on the team and will be able to upgrade next year.

Not sure what to think of Quade yet, but believe he'll get a lot of slack.

Quade will last as long as Hendry does.

He'll be there for at least another year. Not his fault 3/5ths of the starting rotation is on the DL. When you're throwing Casey Coleman, Rodrigo Lopez and Doug Davis out there, no manager is going to be able to win with that.
