What he said is true but you can't just throw teammates under the bus like that either. Wish he'd just keep his mouth shut, keep pitching well, and just maybe some contender will want to trade for him at the deadline.

It's not like Big Z has much room to talk, he's been just as bad the past few years himself. A couple months of decent pitching doesn't make up for some of the terrible months he had last year, especially for a guy getting paid $18 mil like an ace but doesn't pitch like one.

I agree it was not the proper thing to do to say what he said in the media. He should have met with his Manager and Marmol in private and called them out that way. He is right though. Maybe someone will listen this way and make some changes. This team is unwatchable.

The stadium is going to be empty by the end of the season. They are going to need to do somehting at the all star break to create a buzz or they are going to lose a ton of money this year.

Marmol couldn't throw his fastball even close, which is why he didn't want to throw it. That's why he'll never be an elite closer even though he has the raw stuff. He'll go stretches where he can't throw his fastball for a strike which allows hitters to look for the slider.

As for Zambrano, I hope he changes his mind on not accepting a trade. Both for him and for the team. He'd be the best pitcher on the market.

I'm sure Z would welcome a trade to a contender at this point. I think any "buzz" for this season is not going to happen, they need to clear payroll and address their needs in free agency after the season.

Problem is they have about $90 mil tied up in Soriano, Zambrano, Dempster, Fukudome, Pena, and Ramirez. Pena and Fukudome come off the books this year, Ramirez has an option he'll likely exercise because he probably won't get what he is making now on the free agent market after the season he's having. I think both Z and Dempster are off the books after next season as well as Byrd's $5.5 mil and the Cubs are just stuck with Soriano. The only other "significant" money they can clear up after this season is Grabow's $4.8 mil, Samardzija's $3.3 mil, Wood's $1.5 mil and I'm guessing of those 3 Grabow is gone and they'll try to keep the other 2 around at reasonable contracts.

To me this mess can all be traced back to Jim Hendry. I know the guy has lucked into some great deals and prospects but for every good move he's made he's had nearly 2 bad ones that have handcuffed the team's payroll as well.

I applaud Z for what he said, it's about freaking time someone showed some emotion on this team.

Not nearly as bad as the rest of his tirades because at least he's right this time. I kind of like seeing someone publicly lay into this team for once. God knows Quade won't do it. I know its not the best way of handling the situation but it's good to know at least someone on the team is as frustrated as the fans.
