Tiger may need new knee
I was traveling yesterday and listened to the PGA channel and during one of their talk shows they were discussing someone from tigers camp was saying his doctor said he may need complete knee replacement.
If that happens he is done, career over. He's not my favorite player at all, but I was hoping he would be competitive as long as he did not break jack's record.

He can have mine. Will only cost $475 million.

Bah, they're going to milk this for all it's worth. That way, when he comes back and starts winning again, it'll be a miraculous feat that no mortal man could possibly accomplish.....whacking a ball around with a stick while aiming for a hole.

Re: Tiger may need new knee
Thought this was old news. Tiger's knee was the reason he stayed out of the Open, thought I remembered him saying that he was looking at surgery again on his knee.
However, his career would not be over if he gets this done. If he takes a full year or even year and a half off rehabbing, he would be 36 or 37 years old, which still would put him ahead of Jack's pace. I'll believe Tiger's golf career to be over when he is dead, and not until then.

Re: Tiger may need new knee
A new knee would take him a year or so to be back at full strength, this would be far from his biggest concern of his golf game. Finding and sticking with a swing is going to be his main challenge, although his main challenges of catching Jack just finished 1st and 2nd today, but he isn't done. I have never been a Tiger fan, but the sport is better with him than without.

What Tiger needs to do is stop jimmy jackin' around with his swing and just stick with one.

I have finally come around to that, but I don't buy he has to completely change his swing as some are saying. I think it will be 2-3 years, but Tiger will be back. The best thing that could happen for him is happening. People are comparing Rory to him. If Rory continues to have have success, that will only drive Tiger more. I would absolutely love for Rory to dominate and for Tiger to get back to his old ways. I think golf could be very fun if that happens.

Re: Tiger may need new knee
The torque he puts on his knee due to what Johnny Miller calls "the most violent swing" he's ever seen is the reason he's having this problem. He needs to change that or he is done.
I'd agree with you, but then we'd both be wrong. -

I've always been a Tiger fan but I'm beginning to think that his relevance to golf is coming to an end.

Even if he isn't winning, he will have carry over relevance for a few years. At his peak, he is the best the world has seen. That's not to say he has had the best career ever, but at his peak he was practically unbeatable. He's going to have to do it differently, but I still think he can win. I will also bet the guys on Tour don't think he's done.

His knee snap was from his first swing I think.

Maybe but there are plenty of damn good players on tour now younger than him, just as talented. His edge is gone.
