More bad news for Twins fans.

Re: More bad news for Twins fans.
As much as I like Justin the Twins should trade if he's healthy.

Re: More bad news for Twins fans.
Move Mauer to first and trade Morneau for a catcher.

Maybe get this guy and something else. Not a great hitter but better than Butera and Rivera. Chris Iannetta Stats, Bio, Photos, Highlights | ColoradoRockies.com: Team -
Re: More bad news for Twins fans.
Because Mauer is so much more durable than Morneau?
At this rate, go get a new starting catcher and play both Mauer and Morneau at first.
...and then Cuddyer can play the remaining unaccounted 65 games at first...

Re: More bad news for Twins fans.
Anyway, to give a real answer...meh. I don't think they should trade him.
Frankly, it would be impossible anyway to get anything close to fair value, until he has at least a full year of health (and at that point, why trade? especially with what would be one year left on his deal).
They're going to have around $30 million, if not more to work with to reload and revamp the roster next year, should be plenty to upgrade a bunch of other chronic problem areas where they have continually had well-below league-average play.

Re: More bad news for Twins fans.
The bigger change that needs to be made is in coaching/training staff.
There is absolutely NO WAY Mauer or Morneau apparently should have been on the Opening Day roster, and a lot of this mess can be tracked back to that decision.
Unless you believe that there was a coverup with Mauer's real injury this year, the official reason is he was "not in shape to start the season" after leg surgery. What the hell? One, get his *** in shape, and two, don't force him onto the roster, keep him on the DL for a couple weeks to start and get things right, don't make it worse and turn it into 2 and a half months.

Re: More bad news for Twins fans.
EXACT same story with Morneau. After being out the entire second half of the season, off season and part of spring training in which he didn't have a strength program how in the hell did anyone think he was ready to go or would step in right where he left off?
Go check it out in the Star Tribune archives, late in spring training he said he hadn't been allowed to get back into a regular, full-on weights program....why not give him a couple weeks to correct that? And it turns out the neck thing has been a problem since the last week of ST? Even the Iowa Football Strength and Conditioning program thinks that's idiotic.

Re: More bad news for Twins fans.
As much as it sucks, and if you want to question their toughness/durability, fine...but I don't see anyway you can make a successful argument that the Twins training staff didn't make this worse in both cases.

Re: More bad news for Twins fans.
I tell you guys what...make me the GM of the Cubs for a day and I'll give
you guys Geo Soto for your Catcher and all I'll take back is a minor league
guy many of you havent heard of ...OF Aaron Hicks.
No disrespect meant....I love the Twins too.

Excessive intake of alcohol, we all know, kills brain cells, but naturally it attacks the slowest and weakest brain cells first. In this way regular consumption of beer eliminates the weaker brain cells, making the brain a faster and more efficient machine. That's why you always feel smarter after a few beers. -
Re: More bad news for Twins fans.
Haven't heard much on Hicks this year...anyone know how he's been? Seems like the reports last year were he's kinda been a little sluggish in developing so far, but that's usually how it goes with HS draftees.
