NBA season - Yes? or No?

Will there be an NBA season this year? I really don't watch NBA until June, so I would not notice if the season doesn't happen, but what do you think?

(Note, how do you do a poll?) But I couldn't get it to work.
I tried to set one up with 3 options,
    1 - Complete season
2 - Shortened season (starting after Christmas)
3 - No season at all

It will be a shortened season. The players will cave when they start missing those enormous paychecks.

I want to see a year without the NBA to see how many people actually care? I just don't follow it so I can't predict an outcome that wouldn't be a complete shot in the dark.

I have boated 4 or 5 times in Lake Havasu and the river. Wow...talk about a great time!

No season, too much money just to comprimise. The owners have other sources of income and can afford to miss the year.....the players have child support payments to make and can not afford to go a year without pay.

I think in January is when this all will be settled and play will resume. So about a 50 game reg. season much like in the year the Spurs won in the shortened season about a decade ago.

You won't find a bigger nba fan for me but I'm voting no season. While I'll miss watching D-Rose schooling fools on the court these over priced drama queens need to know people can live without them. It's just stupid that the players and owners will let this happen just when the NBA was getting back to being good again.

I really don't blame the players that much here. If someone offers to pay you an insane amount of money, of course you're going to take it. Once you've established a salary baseline it's hard to get your employees to take less, and that goes for any job.

I think it's 50/50 as to whether or not they have a shortened season now. It's going to be a terrible season either way as you're going to see a lot more guys take overseas without opt-out clauses in the next month or so. Teams will have shortened training camp and the players will be playing themselves back into shape well into the spring if there is a season at all.

Re: NBA season - Yes? or No?

I never was a big fan of the NBA. In some ways I'm hoping it doesn't come around this year. Giving the NHL and College BBall more of a center stage.

I will say though, and I know the NBA is in different shape than the NFL, but it really makes me sick to see all of this money floating around out there and everyone is so greedy about grabbing every last penny, that no one can work together to get a season going. Kind of reminds me of the Big XII, but it is sad. I don't know a lot of NBA owners, but the few I've seen don't look like their close to getting in line at the unemployment office.

    Who cares?

I wouldn't miss the NBA if it never came back.

Hoping there is no season so they can see just how few people really care about pro basketball anymore. Over-inflated salaries and egos for a pretty boring game most times IMO. Like the college game 10x more.

I sure hope they have a season. Hell, I'd even accept an abomination like the '99 season was, just so long as they're playing basketball. These guys stand too much to lose.

Re: NBA season - Yes? or No?

I would be very disappointed if it's a shortened season or no season. Outside of the Cyclones the Bulls are the only team I'm really passionate about.

NFL, NHL and MLB could skip 3-4 years in a row before I really missed them though. I'd rather watch random college sports and NBA than any of those leagues. I'd rather watch European soccer than any of those as well.

Only positive would be the premature ejaculators in Miami would get another year older without winning the championship they already celebrated several times.

It would be pretty interesting to see how the game is affected in Europe of guys like Kobe and Dirk really play over there.

Re: NBA season - Yes? or No?

I'm actually rooting for there to be no NBA season. I haven't really watched the NBA since the MJ-Bulls days.

I really hope that the NHL takes advantage of this. The NBA and NHL seasons basically run parallel to each other, and this year, they could have the exposure all to themselves.
