Hotels and Parking in Minneapolis for Vikings games
Attending the Vikings/Raiders game this weekend and looking for hotel options with shuttles to and from the game?
If we can not find a shuttle, what is the best way to get to the stadium and what parking options are there? Last time I went a few years ago I just drove around and found a place to park. Looking to see if I can get some more information on parking, possible shuttles from hotels etc.
Anyone with some information, I would appreciate it!
Re: Hotels and Parking in Minneapolis for Vikings games
I don't think there's any shuttle from any hotels nearby.
Parking: it depends whether you'd like to park close or not. One of the closest is the HCMC Parking Ramp. Last season they charged you $20 but you only walk across the street to go to the Metrodome. The down side is you need to leave early or really late to avoid traffic jam
Re: Hotels and Parking in Minneapolis for Vikings games
Use the Minneapolis Metro Transit. It will literally take you right to the Metrodome. You can park your garage in the parking garage of the Metro Transit stop you chose, avoiding the parking headaches near the stadium.
Home - Metro Transit
It ends up being roughly $6 a person.

I second this...
Lots of hotel options around the MOA. take the Metro from there. drops you off right in front of the dome. The only downside is waiting in line after the game. They may be running buses from the dome after the game as well.

Try light rail too. Just be careful with your iphones.
Re: Hotels and Parking in Minneapolis for Vikings games
I always go a little early and find a metered spot on the street within 6 blocks of the dome. You can hang out on the plaza for awhile if it's not too cold and I always like watching warmups. Bring a roll of quarters, meters are about $1 an hour so $6 should do it. Nice thing about street parking is after the game you don't have to fight your way out of a lot or ramp. Try to find a spot heading in the direction you want to go to get to the freeway entrance you need. We usually stay out in the suburbs since hotels are much cheaper than downtown and Sunday morning traffic is a breeze to get downtown.

Has anyone used Parkwhiz?
Metrodome Parking - Mall of America Field - Vikings | Reserved Parking - ParkWhiz
Will definitely look into the transit deal, I can not find any hotels that do shuttles anymore...
Last time I just drove down and parked, so I appreciate all the options. I will run these past the group and see what we come up with. Any other suggestions always appreciated!
Thanks again
Re: Hotels and Parking in Minneapolis for Vikings games
Just stay DT and take the light rail!
Re: Hotels and Parking in Minneapolis for Vikings games
Unless you're hell bent on staying downtown, stay in one of the south suburbs and catch the light rail at Mall of America. It will drop you off right at the dome! Parking at the 28th st station is free and it's only $1.75 one way.

I do not need to stay downtown. Frankly, the hotel prices downtown are high enough that I want to be outside of downtown.
So 1.75*4 people*2 (round trip) = $14
It appears I can park around the stadium for 15.50. So how bad is traffic going to and leaving the stadium?

Could be really bad if you get out with the crowd. I recall couple of years ago spending 45 minutes in the ramp and around downtown. I parked on the Govt center parking lot (probably 3-4 blocks from the Dome)
Again, just be careful if you ride the light rail. A friend of mine was one of the victims last year, someone just grabbed her iphone.
