Ugh... that sucks. I hate the brewers...
I'll be curious to see the money...
Stake through the heart of Cubs fans. Now they need a third baseman. Who will they steal?
Cubs traded Colvin to Rockies for Ian Stewart who is coming off of an injury and is expected to be the 100-120 game starter at 3rd base for the Cubs
^^^^Edit^^^^Beat me to it
Shoot. I was hoping we'd sign him for 2 years (assuming, of course, that he'd have gone for that).
I'll be curious to see how this shakes out.
Ken Rosenthal says 34M-37M is the expected range.
And now the Cubs get a compensation pick. Ramirez was gone when the season was over.
I think they're still interested in retaining Pena though.....
Ramirez is great in driving in runs when they don't matter.
It was of course expected that Aramis would sign with another team, but it's still hard to take - he has been my favorite Cubs player since his acquisition in '03.
As it sounded, they're more serious about retaining Pena than Ramirez, doesn't mean it'll happen.
Quote:
"In Pena's case, great guy, great teammate, one of the better left-handed bats in the market and the best defensive first baseman available for any team," Epstein said of the lefty, who batted .225 with 28 homers and 80 RBIs this season. "He's a really good player, and we'll continue to have a dialogue and see if there's a fit. We'll keep talking. He'll be missed if he does leave."
Will he start the season in June, or just play out the string until June?
