Lets talk Peyton Manning
If the Colts end up getting the #1 pick and get Luck, does Manning stick around? Archie Manning has already said they would be horrible teammates. Peyton probably has 3 more really good years left in him if his neck allows it. Vikings anyone? .....Even though the Vikes are still in the running for Luck.

Just what the Vikings need, another old QB with one foot out the retirement door. There have been so many I can't even name them all. How many times will they play that game before they realize that it leads to nothing but heartache?

I have a bad feeling that the Vikings will never win a superbowl, so why not have some fun and get some big named old timers like Manning.

Re: Lets talk Peyton Manning
Archie more or less said that he doesn't see Luck being one of the guys who is going to sit on the bench, based off of the success that Newton and Tebow have had and him being light years ahead of where they were/are as QBs. ESPN and other media outlets blow it out of proportion and took it out of context. Now I'm sure there was a little bit behind it being as he clearly wouldn't want Peyton pushed out. However I am guessing the Colts are fine with hopefully a Favre/Rodgers situation when it is all said and done.

I don't want Minnesota to take Luck. It's looking like the Vikings will end up with the 3rd overall pick, so I think I'd Minny to shore up one of the two biggest weaknesses: OL and secondary. Matt Kalil OT from USC, or if the Rams get him, take Morris Claiborne CB from LSU please.

Re: Lets talk Peyton Manning
I think that you keep manning and make them play on the same team. Luck doesn't need to start from day 1.

If Manning has a good year left in him, Ponder, Webb, Manning, and the Vikes all benefit.

I think it would be extremely interesting, though, if Indianapolis passed on Luck, and St. Louis did as well, and it was time for the Vikings to pick at #3 with him on the board. Of course I don't see that happening but a man can dream...

How many other projects like that have been less than successful with another rebuild following it? The Vikes can do what they want, but after this happens again and again I start to feel bad for them and their fans...

Re: Lets talk Peyton Manning
My question about the Colts with Luck and Manning is how do they stay under the cap? Manning is due to make a load of $$$ in 2012 IIRC and would assume Luck is a $60M+ contract. I just don't see this happening. Either trade Peyton or the pick.

Re: Lets talk Peyton Manning
Dolphins need to trade up and get this pick. I have a feeling the asking price will be too high though.

Bring in a 37-year old QB with a ****ed up neck. That will hinder the development of the young guy the Vikings spent a first round pick on. Set the Viking franchise back a couple of years. Love it.

Re: Lets talk Peyton Manning
The last time the Vikes brought in an old quarterback they played in the championship game? I didn't realize McNabb was having that good a season.Maybe it was George, Salsbury, Johnson or name most any other Viking QB for the last umpteen years.
