    Gary Carter passes away

    Hall of Fame catcher Gary Carter dies at age 57 - ESPN New York

    He played just when I started paying attention to sports. Was one of my early favorites along with Sweetness and Andre Dawson.

    Side note: He passed approx 2 hours ago and ESPN already has an 'obituary' about his career. Makes you think- who else do they already have video tributes ready for waiting for them to pass?

    ESPN referred to him as a Met. I'll always remember him as an Expo. Probably their east coast bias coming through again.

    My parents are both from LA and went to a game when he was playing the Dodgers. My mom (who didn't know who he was or what was going on because it was one of her 1st games) yelled "you suck" at him while he was walking passed them in the outfield. I guess Mr. Carter's mother was sitting right in front of her..... oops
