How many players are effective as they once were at that ripe old age....Warner also injured himself trying to tackle somebody on an interception....therefore his injury was essentially self inflicted...And if it did happen to Aaron Rodgers, i'd move with my life, in the end its only a game, like i said before i'm only a fan....I honestly don't find anything different than various forms of office pools...which essentially it is, the field being the office.....Football is a violent game, they choose to be out on the field, therefore assuming risk of injury.... They choose to play football you idiot, not to be headhunted. they know its a violent sport, but it is not the wild where its kill or be killed. its a game. And a fans opinion doesn't matter. I'm sure u would be perfectly fine if u played in the NFL and your career was ended after someone Purposely dived into your knees trying to injure you. Get real

Re: Saints being investigated for Bounties being placed on players.....
How can anybody possible defend this? It's an embarrassment to the NFL. If Goodell doesn't take some serious action (suspensions, forfeiture of draft picks, etc) than he loses all credibility in my eyes. His main focuses since becoming the commish have been player safety and cleaning up the league's image. The Saints have completely violated both of these things.
As for Gregg Williams, he needs to be indefinitely suspended, if not banned from the NFL. This is his second time being caught running a bounty program on his defenses. Payton's a gutless bastard for not stepping in. Kind of ironic that he got his leg broken during a game this past year. Karma anyone?

No that's not the problem. The problem is the NFL found out about the bounties and told them to stop. The Saints said "ok we will put an end to it." Problem is, they continued to for the 2011 season. That is the problem.
If some of the players want to have a pool for big, LEGAL hits, I have no problem with that. Its the pool of money for knockouts and being carted off the field I have a problem with.

Re: Saints being investigated for Bounties being placed on players.....
This issue is or will be huge because I think the emphasis on player safety is really hurting the game.
Nobody wants people to be hurt but the attraction of the game is violence.
They should do all they can to eliminate cheapshots and bounties.
They have no choice but to crack these guys hard.

With as bad as the Saints' defense has been, maybe he should have rethought this system.

It might not be organized by a coach, but the players are doing it between themselves.

I think you are missing the point. It isnt about if it happens. I think everyone agrees there are pools for big hits and de-cleaters, it is "bounty" for trying to end another mans career. That is the problem, the cheap shots.

As Brett Farve said in this article, "It's football." Brett Favre on Saints' bounties: 'It's football' There's a Grand Canyon sized difference between bounties for big legal hits and bounties for causing players to be carted off the field. Most teams are probably doing the former (and that's not the system that most people have a problem with). I doubt nearly as many teams are doing the latter.

Re: Saints being investigated for Bounties being placed on players.....
It will be interesting to see the fallout from this. While "spygate" cost the Patriots dollars and draft picks I imagine this is going to be much, much worse for the Saints and Greg Williams. Not to mention Mickey Loomis and Sean Payton. Per the report they knew about the "pay for pain" program and then lied about stopping it. I would expect some large fines, suspensions, and loss of draft picks which will cripple the Saints for this year at least. Not that I would have a problem with that. I have no problem with big hits that are within the bounds of the game, but dirty shots with the intent to injure violates both the rules of the game and the spirit of honest competition.
