2012 Cardinals
Cards in sole possession of first. Feels good. 161 left, but it felt like we stole one last night. Lohse looked good, and we took one from JJ in their season/stadium opener. Freese is still on fire.
I love this time of year. Final Four, Masters, and MLB!

Re: 2012 Cardinals
Allen Craig will just add some power to the lineup and Carp's return will add more depth to the rotation. Pretty sure the cards will go 160-2 this year, they will rest the starters the last two games to prepare for the playoffs.

Re: 2012 Cardinals
Good to see Descalso at 2nd instead of Skip. LaRussa was determined to make him (Skip) an infielder even though his defensive skills were suited to the outfield. His continual muscle pulls (currently the oblique) indicate his need to overly bulk up to stay competitive. Also will be interesting to see if Tyler Greene will relax and perform better at the plate under new management while being used at 2nd. Furcal looked very good as leadoff last night. No doubt the line-up and relief corp is a team strength, Carp & Waino are unknowns at this point. If Lance Lynn proves to be a dependable starter and Carp & Waino come thru, the play-offs are a reality. Last night was a good start for a new manager and new team without AP.

Re: 2012 Cardinals
Health issues will determine where the Cards end up this season. How many productive innings can we expect from Berkman, Beltran, and Carp? Will Freese's ankles hod up? How many games is Furcal good for? There is enough talent on this team to repeat as NL central reps, IF they stay reasonably healthy. I am not concerned about Matheny's managerial skills. In fact, I think it is a step up.

Loved what I saw from the team last night! Lohse was dominant, Furcal led off well, Freese picked up where he left off. I agree with everyone else, IF we can stay healthy and Carp and Craig are themselves when they come back we will have a great chance to win the NL Central. Plus, we can always make a deal at the trade deadline with all our Pujols money left over. I said this the day Pujols signed with the Angels, I would rather lose Pujols than be handicapped by his salary for the next 10 years. I think in the long run, not re-signing Pujols was a great thing.

I just threw $20 on them to win the series. Get it done!

Lohse was a very pleasant surprise last night. Took advantage of the size of the stadium and had a no-hitter through 6. He and Westbrook have had good springs -- hopefully that will carry through the rest of the year.
And I can't wait to watch Waino pitch again!

Re: 2012 Cardinals
They looked good last night. Will be interesting if their pitching can keep them in games.

Re: 2012 Cardinals
So far so good. Winning in Milwaukee after last year's events is pretty difficult. Great step forward for the 2012 Birdos.

2 out of 3 in Brew Town is good. Very good.

Re: 2012 Cardinals
And Freese just put one in the cheap seats. 3-0 Redbirds over the reds.
Edit: 4-0 Yaddy just parked one!!!
