Marmol blowing games in the Bronx would be something to see, lol. Go from one of the most consistent and possibly best closer of all time to a guy you don't know if he's going to throw a strike when he comes into the game.

The thing is Marmol is a good pitcher, not great, but good. He was at his best under Rothschild. Sometimes a change of scenery does wonders, and his cost is about as low as it ever will be right now.

speaking of pitching when was the last time a cubs starter was first in era? Its great to see Dempster with a sub 1 era.

It was a great game up until the 9th inning.....

I think the Cubs are playing better then they did a year ago.

Id agree with this, although it does not say too much. If the Cubs can get a handle on the bullpen in the next month or so, I could see them being a team that makes a good run in the summer months, but I highly doubt they have anything that makes them a playoff team.

The Cubs bullpen to date has a record of 2-7. They are 3 for 7 in saves and have only 6 holds.

The Cubs bullpen tired its hardest to defecate all over the mound today, but their effort wasn't enough. Kerry Wood really needs to retire...like now.
