Yep about the NBA owning the hornets. Had the hornets had any percentage about like the bulls when they got drose, I would think something more was up, but they had like a mid-teens percentage right?
NBA doesn't own the Hornets anymore. The dude that owns the Saint's is the new owner.
ESPN said they have reps from each team watching the process.
The reason the process isn't done in the open is because they want the viewership from revealing them slowly one by one.
They could draw them slowly, one by one.
It's not a big deal. It's more nostalgic for me than anything. Back in the day, it seemed much simpler, although it stunk for the team with the worst record to be there completely unprotected.
it probably isnt rigged but some of the #1 picks over the past few years do make you wonder since they seem to fit storylines...
hornets get the #1 pick after david stern spurned the trade they wanted while they were league owned
cavs get the #1 pick after lebron leaves them in the dust and essentially kills basketball in the city
bulls get the #1 pick with brutal odds when the hometown kid is the consensus #1 pick
cavs get the #1 pick when their hometown kid is the best high schooler ever
im not sure why they dont show the lottery live either...soccer does it for their tournament groups so theres no doubt about the groups
If they didn't do this there would likely be riots in many countries in large tournaments, such as the World Cup, when a team felt they got hosed. And to be fair with the amount of corruption inside FIFA today they would likely have a valid point.
