Same thing I was wondering, that would give them only 4 players signed, with the smallest contract being Wallace at 4 years for 40 million. Not sure who else they would be able to sign unless Mikhail Prokhorov is going to be paying a huge tax.

I'm sure that crazy Russian bastard pays more for jet-skis every year than he would on that tax, but they are going to buck the same issues Miami did trying to acquire adequate depth and role players. That being said, the make-up of their "Big 3" would be, although maybe not as talented, a lot more logical that James/Wade/Bosh.

Mike and Mike said the Nets owner made 42 mil yesterday. A little tax shouldn't bother too much.

It begs the question how does a team decide to give the guy a max contract...yet can pull such a move to get rid of that blown deal so fast? I guess everyone can make a mistake.

Maybe they had some front office changes.

Apparently the Nets could still get Howard if they can get Lopez and Humphries to agree to a sign and trade deal: Orlando Magic's Dwight Howard could still go to Brooklyn Nets, sources say - ESPN

DWill, Johnson, Howard and Wallace would be a very good team.

If I somehow knew Howard would take the Bulls to a title I imagine I'd be thrilled if they could get him.

But man, he is an arrogant DB. He's more arrogant than the Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants down in Miami, he's just much worse at getting attention for it. If we ended up with Howard and not improving I imagine grow to dislike him even more.

The thing with Boozer is at the time they had enough cap space for TWO max guys, they needed inside scoring, and when Bosh was out Boozer really was as good of an option as anybody else. It could definitely be time to get rid of him and I'm sure the amnesty is on the table, but he's filled that gap the past few years as good as anyone else they could have signed. They'd have won less games if they had just sat on that cap space.

I'd amnesty Boozer, and lock down Asik and Taj, then go for a cheaper 2 guard that can score.

I don't think the Bulls will amnesty Boozer till after this season at the earliest. With Rose out someone has to score and there is no one worth signing right now with the cap space it would create. I also hope they don't match Asik's offer as that is a lot of money to be paying a backup center that only averaged 14.7 mpg last season. Gibson is the one they need to lock up long term. Don't forget they also have the rights to Nikola Mirotic overseas who should be coming over in a year or 2 that should provide some help.

I love Asik and he's now "my bro" since I met him at the grocery store haha, but I'm not quite sold on being the team who gives him his big pay day. He definitely has shown he belongs in the league but I think his ceiling may be a specialist defensive player off the bench. If we can sign him for that type of money then yes, if not, no.

Gibson still has more upside he hasn't shown yet, I'd really like to sign and keep him. I agree on Boozer, just that really the time he's been here, we'd have been worse off having all that cap space and there weren't a lot of other opportunities.

The Rip thing was a gamble that didn't pay off. It was a chance, everyone knew.

Re: Joe Johnson to Brooklyn Nets

i actually think they should trade Noah and sign Asik because Noah is always getting hurt and they could get some good pieces for him as opposed to Boozer.

Im hoping they somehow end up in the lottery next year and get the number one pick.

Then they have the rights to Nikola Mirotic who sounds like he could be a good player and the rights to Bobcats future pick. And I dont see Bobcats getting good anytime soon so in 2016 they could get a great pic.

And they could take the mantle from the Heat as the NBA's most hated team -two coach killers and a wing player with a lot of mileage and a lot of bad contract left to go in that group. Everybody wins!
