Re: 10 Teams Interested in Dempster
It would be extremely wise for the Cubs to trade him to the Tigers and go after Jacob Turner. It is known money isn't a factor for the Cubs in these trades - they are willing to pay any parts of contracts that they must to get a solid prospect.
It is really too bad that the Blue Jays aren't in contention anymore, as they have three prospects that are starting pitchers with "Ace" potential.

Re: 10 Teams Interested in Dempster
I have read a few articles where people are speculating that teams will be less willing to give up top prospects for players who are in the final year of their contract.
In the new CBA, there is no longer any draft pick compensation for players who are obtained via trade during the season. Previously a team would have received 2 additional draft picks if that player had signed with another team after the season.

The Cubs are on a great streak over the last 16 games. I say keep Dempster for a run at the Central title. -

Looks like a really talented young pitcher. Who do you think the catcher of the future is for the cubbies? that's kind of a position that I want to see addressed. Do we have any promising farm catchers?

Wellington Castillo is supposed to be a pretty good catcher pretty soon here, and clevenger isn't bad.

That said, I don't know that any team can't use a veteran arm to eat up innings. Especially say...the Nats. Depends how close that team is to a sustained playoff/WS run. If having a veteran starter to solidify your rotation gets you a valid shot at a WS, you give up a bit more than a bag of balls. They might not be able to get a couple can't miss prospects but I think they can get a piece or two that is worth a lot more than what Demp can give the Cubs the rest of this season.
I say trade him as soon as they can get the pieces they want and his arm stays attached.
