I think this is one time where practice rounds were a bad thing.
I'm pretty sure he came out of the practice rounds thinking even par would win and maybe win going away. Back to the drawing board on that one.
Don't forget he beat 90% of the field. Had the course played like it did on Sunday, Even would have won going away. His game plan worked for a long time and I don't disagree with the plan on Thursday and Friday. Saturday I really did. He was four back and needed to close in and he failed to do so.
It was a dumb dumb game plan by Tiger when he realized the weather was ideal. When the wind is blowing, hitting those low stingers is a great plan and perfect for him b/c he is one of the few that can hit that shot. When the wind isn't blowing (and it never really did, 10-15MPH at the British is nothing) than he needs to be aggresive and start pulling out the big dog. The rough there sucks but if you only need to hit a wedge 100 yards out of it, it isn't so bad. I think he needed to understand he may make some bogeys with the driver but he would have a lot more birdies. It was just the biggest pansy gameplan ever. It's almost like he wants to win that way so he can show everyone how great he is.
The worst is when he birdies 2 out of 3 yesterday and was 3 shots back with 6 to play. He comes up to what is a drivable par 4 and he hits an iron. I couldn't believe it. Of course it goes in the bunker and he bogeys it.
He needs to get back to hitting the driver and working on his wedges. He seriously hit his wedges like I do. 100-125 yard wedges aren't that hard and for these professionals it should be within 10 feet most shots. He never was. He was leaving himself 30 ft putts at least.

Every country club in the world has an old man who hits it right down the middle, onto the green, and two putts for par and beats all the young pups who watch too much TV golf and jack it 300 plus into the wilderness.
Eldrick looked like he was auditioning for the old man role.

Agree. I don't know if you are giving the rough the credit it deserves because that **** was nasty and with a 56 at 100 yards, it could go 120 or it could go 60, but in any case, the gameplan was **** after Friday. I think he thought the course would catch up to him and it never really did. When he hit that iron on 13 I gave up. What a *****. Man up and try to win a golf tournament. I can honestly say that's the first time I have seen Tiger not playing to win. It was like he just gave up.

Yeah, they aren't playing the British Open. Don't compare amateurs to any sort of professional golf.
