Advertisements on NBA uniforms
NBA adds three additional uses of instant replay for 2012-13 season - ESPN
What is everyone's take on advertising with patches on NBA uniforms?
I understand the logic behind making boat loads of money but I dont like the idea of just turning a jersey into an advertisement. IMO it takes away from the game.

Re: Advertisements on NBA uniforms
Sure, put an ad on the jersey, then lower the ticket prices.

Re: Advertisements on NBA uniforms
Don't hate it, Don't like it. It's not like they even really need the money.

It will just be a revenue boost for them.

Re: Advertisements on NBA uniforms
Don't we get enough ads? One sponsor might not be so bad. I don't think it takes away from the game at all. Just ask Man U fans if they care Aeon or Liverpool fans if they care Standard Chartered are on their kits...soccer has had it for ages. I just don't think it's necessary in a sport like basketball where there are a billion commercial breaks as opposed to almost 90 mins straight in soccer

Re: Advertisements on NBA uniforms
Are they going to start talking like NASCAR drivers ?
Announcer: Kobe, that was a pretty sweet dunk at the end of that fast break.
Kobe: I knew I could get some serious air with my Nike shoes while running down the TD Ameritrade Court to dunk the Wilson ball in the Starbucks hoop. I thought of just laying it up off the McDonald's backboard but decided the dunk was the way to go.

Doesn't seem to affect the fan passion or tradition of much older pro sports teams like Manchester United, Real Madrid, etc...
I'd like to think it would make tickets cheaper but in reality it would just be more money for players, owners and coaches. Perhhaps some teams that struggle to fill the stands would lower prices to get a better following but Chicago, for example, still sold out when they were starting raw high school kids and mentally insane players a few years back...doubtful they'd reduce ticket prices a single cent with the extra ad revenue.

Re: Advertisements on NBA uniforms
I'm in favor. But I'm also a huge soccer fan, so I'm used to seeing it.

Re: Advertisements on NBA uniforms
No ads on unis....come on NBA. Don't be like soccer or stupid nascar.
Great, just when I want to get an old school rockets jersey with royce's name on it....it'll have some stupid ad on it now.

Re: Advertisements on NBA uniforms
I'm sure it won't be long before they look like cycling jerseys:
or NASCAR fire suits:
At least cycling has a legitimate reason for it since all of the fans get to go to the events for free so they have to make up the revenue elsewhere.
I don't really care about it happening in the NBA, but I will probably come close to crying when NFL franchises that have been around 100 years start advertising on their kit.

Maybe we should have fun with this and figure out the perfect corporate sponsor for select teams.
Based on the logo:
The Carl's Junior Dallas Cowboys. "There are five real good recruits in the state. We got three of them. One couldn’t get into school, and the other went to (the University of) Iowa...which is about the same thing." - Coach Johnny Orr -

Based on the logo:
The Carl's Junior Dallas Cowboys. As long as the Jones family owns the Cowboys, I think they'd be the last to sell out.
Now, the Orlando Magic could use that...
