Sage Rosenfels
Does any Viking fan know why he didn't play in the first preseason game? I hope to God he is 2nd string over Joe Webb. Joe is no where close to being a decent NFL QB. He needs to move out to WR.

Re: Sage Rosenfels
Paul Allen said before the first game that Sage wouldn't play and that they were sort of in the process of giving Joe Webb his last real shot at being the #2. They know what they have with Sage and are just auditioning the other two QBs from the sounds of things.

Re: Sage Rosenfels
Joe Webb is not a 1 or a 2 or even a QB! If Ponder doesn't win 8 games this year, blow the team up and get a QB in the draft and start over. I'm getting sick of the Vikings trading for QB's 3/4 of the way thru there career. It is a QB driven league and if you don't have a solid QB you have NO chance.
Just looking at the NFC North, makes me sick how far ahead the Bears, Lions and Packers are...

I'm sick of the Viking coaches having love fests with some of their QBs(Tavaris Jackson) and now with Joe Webb. I like Ponder though. I think he'll be a pretty solid QB once he gets some more snaps in. Oh and maybe if the staff gets him a solid WR to throw to.

Re: Sage Rosenfels
as recently as two days ago, Webb was pretty well cemented as the number 2 QB, according to the Access Vikings blog, and the battle for number 3 was down to Rosenfels and Bethel-Thompson, with the thought being that even though Bethel-Johnson has shown promise, Sage will likely win the job.

Awful. Here we go again with the staff's love fest with Joe Webb. He is the next T-Joke.

Re: Sage Rosenfels
Tavaris may be dropped by Seattle and available back to the Vikings.
Looking forward to CFH magic for the next bball season, Georges style. -

It's not exactly the end of the world. If they were trying to start him over Ponder, then okay, go nuts, but he's the backup. It's not like Sage is a world beater, either. If they get to the point where Ponder gets hurt, they're pretty much screwed anyway.

Re: Sage Rosenfels
When was the last time Sage threw a pass in a game? I like him and all, but let's be realistic about his chances or his ability to be an NFL QB at this point.

Re: Sage Rosenfels
Not much of a Vikings follower, but don't the Vikings need receiving more than they need a backup QB?

Simpson and Harvin will start, (after Simpson comes back from suspension) Michael Jenkins just took a pay cut in hopes of staying with the team. Other than that, you've got Devin Aromashadu, and a bunch of young guys. I think the guy they took in last year's draft, Burton, has a chance to be decent, but the injury to Greg Childs really left them thin.

Re: Sage Rosenfels
I'm not saying to start Sage...I think he is a solid #2 QB. Joe Webb just shouldn't even be an option imo. Like a said, give Ponder the reps this year and if he doesn't show promise, start over in the draft next year. Honestly, with the schedule the Vikes have, he needs to win 7 or 8 games.

Maybe T-Jack could come back and try his hand at catching the ball. "There are five real good recruits in the state. We got three of them. One couldn’t get into school, and the other went to (the University of) Iowa...which is about the same thing." - Coach Johnny Orr
