    Re: Packers sack Bears

This could have been a different game if the Bears had an answer for Clay Mathews, the fake FG didn't work for GB, and Brandon Marshall makes the TD catch. Those are all excuses, but I think the Bears will be OK long term and will beat the Packers at Soldier Field.

    Re: Packers sack Bears

I'm actually a fan of both the Bears and Packers as well as the Vikes(know that's weird, but not near as loyal to NFL as college teams). I thought the Bears would play them a lot tougher than that. I don't think the Bears have found their quarterback yet. I think they have all the other pieces of the puzzle in place.

To me it looks like San Fransisco is the team to beat this year. With their defense, they are going to go a long ways.

We had a guy in one of our leagues who had both Marshall and Cutler last night. Until the Bears TD drive, he had a combined negative two points.

I kind of agree with this. I see a lot of blame on Cutler, and I'm not sure it can all go on him. The Bears game plan last night was questionable. They tired to establish the run way too much last, it was like they didn't even bother to watch any game film from the Packers/49ers game. Ill give the Packers all the credit in the world though, they really stepped it up on defense...maybe one of the better defensive games they have played in years, especially when it comes to their defensive backfield. But the Bears O-line last night took a giant step backwards.

Watched the game at a bar last night. Clay Matthews has to be one of the ugliest men I've seen, yet the other females there go crazy for him. I know we like our beer here in WI, but come on ladies, the beer goggles can't possibly make that look good!
And this isn't just my "I married a Bear fan bias", I will fully admit that when Rodgers doesn't have a haircut that walked out of 1992, he is a good-looking dude.

The Packers may, however, lead the league in the number of fans of other teams who are envious of GB's success. If you can't beat 'em, bust on 'em, I guess.
How'd the game go last week? The Packers aren't that good.

I disagree...I think the 49ers are just THAT good. The Packers should be better this season, in my opinion, and defiantly more balanced on offense. The problem is the Lions, Bears and Vikings will all be better this season, so they don't have as much of a stranglehold on the Division as they did last season. After last week, I thought the Packers d-backs still had along ways to go, but they were a completely different unit last night.

That line needs some work ASAP. Get Cutler some time and this offense will be dangerous. But good lord he was on the verge of being sacked every single play. One stat that didn't get noted was....The Packers had 7 sacks...but the Bears got 5. That fake hurt but overall the defense played well against one of the elite offenses in the league.

Also agree with this. Rodgers had an extremely below average game for Rodgers. I also find it funny that everyone is talking about how Cutler yelled at Webb, but no one is saying anything for Rodgers doing the same thing to Jones.

Hasn't this always been the issue with Lovey Smith? It seems to be a regular criticism of him here on the local radio shows. I think I've even heard him say in press conferences before that he plays his kind of football, it doesn't matter what the other team is going to do. I can't imagine they don't actually watch film, I'm sure they do. But Loveyball always seems to have the gameplan of, "This is how we play, you stop us." And when they get stopped, it always seems to be a bit of an "Oh well, they got us" moment, instead of "Why don't we try this?"

Their biggest issue right now is alway their biggest positive. Cutler. When he is good, he can be really good, but when you get the guy rattled, he becomes a giant baby on the field like he did last night. Instead of being a leader and bringing the team up, he usually seems to go in to lash out mode. If they could train him to be more of a leader than a lone gunslinger out there, I think they would have all the parts to be a great football team.

It didn't help either that a lot of the bears receivers looked like they were making toffee before they came out to play. Bad case of butterfingers last night.

I played a guy who had Cutler and Cobb. I had Crosby who scored more points than them combined. I am feeling pretty good right now.
