NFL pulls replacement ref from game
NFL pulls replacement ref from New Orleans Saints' game - ESPN
Stropolo, who is from New Orleans and lists himself on Facebook as an NFL side judge, posted pictures of himself in Saints gear tailgating at an Aug. 25 preseason game. Stropolo did not work the game against the Texans, but he was assigned to Sunday's game in Carolina.
That's awesome Chuck Lidell: I paint my toenails with pink and black polish. Problem is, I get more paint on my toes and on the carpet than on my nails. Any advice? Maria Sharapova: Don't you beat up other guys for a living? I don't know how to answer this. -

Re: NFL pulls replacement ref from game
I have generally thought Goodell has taken the right positions on alot of issues, but he is completely wrong about replacement referees. They are affecting the game outcomes, especially when the play is at the level it is in the NFL. The refs are hardly asking for anything, an Goodell says the league is happy with the replacements? The team owners should be appalled that the games are as poorly refereed as they have become.

Re: NFL pulls replacement ref from game
I think what I've seen on various NFL-related programs is that, last week, statistically, the refs were no worse and perhaps better than last year in terms of the number of mistakes made. The difference is that the mistakes made this year are mistakes that experienced refs wouldn't make (i.e., awarding extra time outs), so the mistakes are much bigger, much more noticeable, and have a greater chance of negatively impacting games.

I do like how the replacement refs don't seem to overreact as much to the "illegal hit" type of plays. They haven't been brainwashed like the regular refs to automatically throw a flag every time there's a hard hit.
