Also, yes, blowin $26 million is pretty dumb, but it happens all the time to athletes. Some people want to live "in the now" and have no comprehension that saving/investing is a good thing.

Touchee to that. Its amazing how these guys could be set for life with just a few good financial decisions. However, they'd rathing get caught up in the lifestyle and blow it all, then expect us to feel sorry for them.

It's the same thing with lottery winners. The majority of them end up losing/spending most of the money and end up with little to show for it.

Yeah, combine surrounding themselves with the wrong people and someone getting a ******** of money for the first time, often after living a life where there was very little money, and it's not hard to see why they don't have any concept of how to deal with and keep their money.

Yeah, combine surrounding themselves with the wrong people and someone getting a ******** of money for the first time, often after living a life where there was very little money, and it's not hard to see why they don't have any concept of how to deal with and keep their money.

If I ever had that kind of financial windfall, which is not likely as I do not play the lottery, had my pro sports career ruined by bad knees and an overall lack of any discernible talent(mostly the knees), and the fact that Tyra Banks has stopped accepting my ANTM audition tapes, I'd like to think I'd do things differently.
If I ever DID have that windfall, the first thing I would do is hire someone to manage my money. I mean the very first thing. And not some friend who dabbles in investments, either. Unfortunately, short of a Brewster's Millions scenario, that's probably not a problem I'll need to worry about.

Other issues are bad people that take advantage of these athletes, it said VY is sueing his financial advisor for $5.5MM. The FA, if doing his job should have had him on a budget and set VY & his family up for the rest of their lives. If VY was the big spender the FA was saying - he should have resigned from the duty of being his FA.
