AL playoffs is gonna be insane. Good thing the Red Sox suck this year so we have a decent chance at getting the division.

Yankees.

Baltimore plays TB. TB still has a remote shot at getting a wild card spot. Gonna need the Rays to win the series and the Yankees to win their series to get the division.

Will the winner of the one-game playoff among the two wild card teams play whoever has the best record in the AL, or will they match up the best AL team with the worst? Both wild card teams will have a better record than Detroit.

baltimore has the edge if their is a tie..donno why

Must have a better record against the division, since the Yanks and O's split their series 9-9 this year.

False, They have been eliminated. It makes me happy to see baseball banter on here though. The White Sox have a remote chance (needing to sweep cleveland and also have detroit suffer a sweep) I'm a White Sox fan, and after Longoria's HR last week against the Sox I have accepted the playoffs aren't happening this year. It would be a happy surprise if it did happen though.

Wrong. Tampa Bay is 3 GB Oakland. They could tie Oakland if they win out and A's lose out.

Not so fast, my friend. According to MLB, the Rays' elimination number is still one. Apparently, if they sweep the Orioles and Oakland gets swept by Texas, the Rays still have a chance to tie for that last wild card. That would mean they would have to play a one-game playoff for that wild card spot, followed by the one-game wild card playoff game.

Slim chances, true, but about the same chance they had late in their last game last year. October baseball is fun!
