Wrestling announcers was part of it, but the extreme amounts of self-gloss significantly lengthened the game. Yes, the NFL and even college has some amount of self-gloss, especially from wide receivers and and big play defenders, but even then it's not nearly as bad as it was in the XFL. In fact, the self-gloss was how they chose to market the league
Re: Anyone else hate the NFL?
With you 100%. I like pretty much anything better if it is college or minor/semi-pro league. As for the bigs, I would say my preference right now it NHL>MLB>NFL>NBA. NHL and MLB swap places here and there, but NFL is boring and NBA is downright painful.

Yeah, I get that. Letting Rod Smart put "He Hate Me" as the name on his jersey...LOL I don't think that was great marketing. For me though, even though I watched the WWE (WWF) at the time, I just couldn't get past the fact that they went cheap by using the announcers from RAW as their main team. If the announcers aren't helping by adding in to the game experience, it just sucks, kind of like watching the B1G 10 network, and the XFL with no star power guys needed all the help they could get.
Re: Anyone else hate the NFL?
NFL can be good to watch, but it all depends on matchups of the teams. It also can be boring at times and predictable. I for one liked to watch Tebow ball in Denver not because I thought he was particularly great but because it was different than the vanilla stuff most teams do. Same with Miami and the wildcat when they first introduced it. Same when Denver used to run the toss sweep with Davis. NFL needs more offensive variety. Maybe Cam and RGIII and some of the other new guys can shake up the mold a bit.

You can call the NFL about anything you want, but predictable aint one of them.
Re: Anyone else hate the NFL?
The only things better than the NFL are college football, college basketball, and kinky German sex

The NBA I actively dislike.
College wrestling ranks somewhere between the WNBA and world series of poker.
Re: Anyone else hate the NFL?
I used to be a hard core Chiefs fan. But anymore I couldn't care less about the NFL. I have watched only 1 NFL game this year and that was sporadic. Give me college sports, MLB, and NASCAR and I am happy. Every thing else is meh...

You can blame Fox for that. CBS is much more enjoyable to watch the NFL on than Fox
Re: Anyone else hate the NFL?
I used to like the NFL more than I do now, I think a lot of the rule changes have been a detriment to the excitement of the games. The No Fun League in full force. I agree with Janny, a really good college football game is hard to top, but a bad college football game is tough to watch. I'd probably say college football and NFL are neck and neck for me, next is the Premier League. College Basketball is fairly close, then waaaaaaaaaaaaaaay at the bottom is MLB and the NBA doesn't really count.
Re: Anyone else hate the NFL?
Anything with the Vikings, I'll watch it all day long. Other teams I will watch sporadically.
If I had to pick one or the other, I would go the college football route. I think people find College Football more exciting because they can relate to the school the team represents. It's easier for non-urban people to get behind a college team if they or a family member attended school there.
As for MLB...I'm a Royals fan, so that oughta answer what I think of that.
XFL never had a chance after we all found out it was just a semi-pro NFL. Maybe the return of the USFL will give us a new field of teams to cheer for?
Notice how I didn't mention the NBA...uber-lame!

I don't know. I can watch certain teams that we're stuck watching on Sunday for regional markets, and predict what they'll call most of the time.
