God bless you Eddie Johnson. Just got a chance to watch this match off of the DVR and I did not have a good feeling at all the whole second half. The postage stamp sized pitch was ridiculous, but hey, take the three points and fly back to KC with a grin on your face.
Is anybody headed down to KC for the Guatemala match? They beat Jamaica tonight so the US and Guatemala are sitting on 10 pts while Jamaica has 7. Both the US and Guatemala are plus 3 in goal differential on Jamaica so the Reggae Boyz are going to have to destroy Antigua and Barbuda to make things interesting. That late goal from EJ tonight definitely makes things a bit less stressful.
One more match to go tomorrow (Tuesday) night. Fabian Johnson will be out for this one as well. He's apparently still dealing with flu-like symptoms so they didn't even have him fly over from Germany. I haven't heard anything about the others that were out with injuries so we'll have to see if those guys are available or not.
The match in KC has the potential to be a real snooze fest as both the US and Guatemala advance to the Hexagonal with a draw. Neither team has incentive to play for the win so it will be interesting to see how this one plays out.
