Knott drafted to replace Urlacher?
What would you Bears fans think of this? I would probably cream my shorts. You're welcome for that visual.
I will be interested to see what his combine stats are...but he's much more than his stats will indicate.
Some team is going to get a great linebacker.

Well, they play different positions. So I'm guessing that doesn't happen.

I get your point, but it's not like no one has ever switched between Sam Mike and Willie. Hell, Urlacher played Lobo at NM, which is closest to a Sam, correct?

I remember thinking Urlacher was a Safety in college. Not sure if teams had him as a LB or S on their draft boards. I do know I have seen Jake Knott on multiple draft board rankings and he has been listed as an OLB every time. Klein was always listed at MLB, FWIW. From what I can tell, Knott is projected as an OLB. I'm not sure he could be more in the mold of Chad Greenway. Very similar players, IMO.
"He is the toughest I have ever been around, physically and mentally," Burnham said. "You can beat him down but you’re not going to beat him out. He’s got the mindset of, ‘If you’re going to get me out of this game, you’re going to have to kill me.’ That’s about where he is."

Re: Knott drafted to replace Urlacher?
I'd love to see a Clone on the Bears, but my guess is he won't have a great 40 time for his position. Its going to be a deep LB draft this year and he'll probably grade out as a late rounder. I think the Bears will grab a LB in the first few rounds. If his time isnt very good he'll be looked at as more of a 3-4 MLB. Klien will likely get drafted higher and is more likely to end up a Bear.

I'd love to see Knott as a Chicago Bear, but in specific terms of a Brian Urlacher replacement, give me A.J. Klein for that.

Re: Knott drafted to replace Urlacher?
What round do you think he will be drafted in? I'm hopeful, but Cyclone players have really dropped lower than expected in drafts recently. I don't know what to expect with Knott with respect to that.

Reminds me of Sean Lee. He'll be a fun one to watch in the NFL.

Thinking the Steelers pick up Knott the way they did Heath Miller @ TE. Miller had abdominal/hernia & didn't even go to combine & they took a chance with him in 1st round. Not to say Knott would go then, but think a team very good at evaluating 'professional' football players will pick Knott.

Re: Knott drafted to replace Urlacher?
The Bears stress scoring and forcing turnovers more than any other team in football. Knott and Klein have done more of that than pretty much any other linebackers in college football the past few years. It's not crazy to think one would end up a Bear, especially if they slip a little and Chicago wants bargain players who fit their philosophy.

I could see either with the Bears. Move Briggs to middle and have AJ or Jake on the outside. Both are hard nosed quick and have the character that the Bears love.
"For the great enemy of truth is very often not the lie -- deliberate, contrived, and dishonest -- but the myth -- persistent, persuasive, and unrealistic. Too often we hold fast to the clichés of our forebears. We subject all facts to a prefabricated set of interpretations. We enjoy the comfort of opinion without the discomfort of thought."

Re: Knott drafted to replace Urlacher?
Knott reminds me alot more of a Hunter Hillenmeyer type... Who I thought was one of the most underrated Bears over the last ten years... But ya, if we are talking a specific Urlacher replacement, I'd rather have Klein... Give me both though!
