8 Years Later : MALICE IN THE PALACE
“They're very, very hard to guard,” Notre Dame head coach Mike Brey said. “They're really good. And with Niang in the middle kind of wheeling and all those guys spreading you out, they're kind of a nightmare matchup. And they're men. They're really men.” -

The reason why Ron Artest went into The Palace stands in the first place: Chuck Lidell: I paint my toenails with pink and black polish. Problem is, I get more paint on my toes and on the carpet than on my nails. Any advice? Maria Sharapova: Don't you beat up other guys for a living? I don't know how to answer this. -

8 years already. Damn. I still remember tuning into Jim Rome's show the day after this happened, and the first thing he said was "well, what are we going to talk about today?"

Grantland did a killer oral biography about this a while back...I can't find the link now but if you can find it it's worth the read. I was watching this game and remember the whole thing unfolding. The scariest part was watching Jermaine O'Neal throw a haymaker at a fan who had run onto the court. O'Neal threw a running roundhouse right. His front foot slipped a little and it ended up being a solid but not devastating shot, but if it had connected cleanly I believe he would have caved the guy's face in a la the Kermit Washington and Rudy Tomjanovich incident.
