On ESPN now. LA getting pushed back for the first 10 minutes, but are now taking it to Houston. Donovan missed an easy shot from 8 yards out earlier. Any predictions for the game? I'm thinking LA wins 2-1 with Magee getting both.
An interesting/scary side note mentioned by Twellman was there is speculation that Donovan will retire after this match. Any thoughts/news about this?
All tied up after a few set pieces by LA. Gonzalez got on the end of one. Houston is really going to miss the runs Carr was making. So far a pretty good match. I think MLS really needs to switch the date of this game. Going against college football championship weekend is a pretty tough thing to do.
EDIT: LA 2-1 on a PK from Donovan. Might be the last goal Donovan ever scores, but I sure hope not. Ricardo Clark with the handball. Imagine that, a Ricardo Clark mistake in a crucial situation.

That seems odd to have the other playoff matches composites of two games and the final just one game. Big advantage home team.
The home field advantage is a reward for the team with the best regular season record between the two teams. It's similar to how home field advantage is rewarded to the team that takes the MLB All-Star game most seriously. It is definitely a huge advantage for the home team though.
I understand the whole one game thing, it is just weird that they change the format for the finals after playing home and homes for every other series in the playoffs.
