    Twins Trade Revere to Phillies

Ben Revere to Phillies for Vance Worley and pitching prospect Trevor May.

Looks like a very good deal for the Twins.

Worley also finished 3rd in 2011 Rookie of the Year balloting.

Excellent job of dealing from a position of strength for glaring weakness.

(And save it, despite whatever PR lip service was paid earlier to playing for this year, none of this was ever about this year. They're too far off.)

Worley had elbow surgery last September

Who the hell is going to play CF now? They need someone that can cover a lot of room with Willingham (for now...) in LF and platoon in right. Gardy probably plays Mastrioanni every day

Wow. Going from 2 good, proven centerfielders to zero is quite the offseason.

They got Trevor May too. The Twins just robbed Philly.

Gotta do something when you have 1 good not proven starting pitcher

It was bone spur surgery, not something more major, but yes, the knock is he may be injury prone.

Coupling May in this for someone who is struggling to be the second coming on Juan Pierre makes this a major win in my book.

Mastrioanni will likely start, but Hicks will likely get thrown in at some point. Maybe Benson will bounce back for a little time up too.

Yea this is a much more impressive deal than the Span trade

Span was a good right fielder. Nothing more than average in center.

Agreed, but that trade with the Nats was a great one, too. Twins need a power arm like that in their system.

Defensive metrics disagree with you. He started out pretty average there but improved each season. I'd say that passes my "eye test" as well.

Not really concerned about CF. The Twins are pretty clearly going for a full rebuild here, just let Mastroianni handle it until Benson or Hicks are ready. Hopefully the Twins still make a short term deal or two in FA market, they should have the money to spend and they can flip those guys for prospects at the trade deadline.

So, is this the official sign that the Twins are in full re-build mode? A lot of the Twins writers were saying that Terry Ryan might try bolstering the rotation with some free agents this winter and that would be enough to contend...but now that Haren and Blanton are both off the market, and we've traded away both Span and Revere, it sure looks like theTwins are gearing up for another long, slow build.

Yeah...as long as you don't try to frame these as moves trying to wind the World Series in 2013, these are two very good moves to be impressed with.

Mlb ready starter, plus one of the Phillies best prospects period, plus a power arm from the Bats.

Hopefully Diamond, May, Meyer is a more successful pitching core than Baker, Blackburn, Slowey turned out to be

So, do not buy Twins season tickets this year because they are a work in progress, like the Chiefs and Cubs?
Looking forward to CFH magic for the next bball season, Georges style.

Re: Twins Trade Revere to Phillies

Twins fans are happy with this I see...so why did the Phillies make this trade? More of a win-now vs the future thing or did they get robbed...just wondering?
