I don't think the Rays wanted to part with Hellickson since he's so young. I like the trade. The Royals needed starting pitching bad. They have now acquired Ervin Santana and James Shields while re-signing Jeremy Guthrie. Davis joins an already solid bullpen.

having the best minor league system doesn't win World Series (or **** get you to .500 baby steps i guess) and although Myers most likely is going to be awesome, he struck out a ton in AAA and its easier to find RF than it is starting pitching.
I think Dyson plays everyday in CF and Cain slides to RF and Francouer gets dealt for some BP fastballs and a bag of Redman.

I like the trade for the Royals. Best one in years IMO. James Shields has proven he can win with a young team, now he can bring that attitude and ability to the Royals.

Mad props to the Rays. Somehow they find ways to make deals like this and stay competitive in the AL East. I'd love my Pirates to have their management team.

Needed starting pitching bad. Davis can also be an end of the rotation guy. Sucks we traded Myers, but a lot of team officials think Jorge Bonifacio will be better than Myers.

This wouldn't sting so bad if Bubba Starling wasn't already considered a bust.
