This statement can be made for pretty much any team. Obviously if you take away team's star players they don't win as many games.

I think that was the point Clones21 was trying to make.

Correct. Vikings win on Sunday they are in, lose they are out.

Checkdown Smith is never the answer.

Smith was never going to win a Superbowl. The way the game is played now you need an elite QB to win it all. Kaepernick may not be that, but they had to take a chance.

Can anyone think of a team that has been as good as the 49ers without having a standout guy. Yeah, Willis, Smith and Smith are great but I don't feel like they would be devastated without them. Maybe the Ravens a few years ago? Frank Gore is probably the closest thing and I think they could function without him.

That rules out the Vikes then.

Third highest passer rating. Second highest YPA. High Completion percentage. That's when he went out. Did you watch the Saints playoff game last year? He was not the reason the didn't make it to the Super Bowl last year. All he did to lose his job was get a concussion. There was nothing wrong with his performance outside of one game.

Vikings are in with a win

    OR

with losses by New York (vs. Philadelphia), Chicago (vs. Detroit), AND a loss or tie by Dallas (vs. Washington).

So it is very unlikely that MIN makes it with a loss, but it is possible. Vikings fans would become Eagles/Lions/Redskins fans.

Ah didn't know that. Would they need both the Giants and the Bears to lose if that were to happen?

Why did they have to take a chance? They have a great running game and a great defense.

yes. If the Bears, Giants, and Cowboys lose, Minnesota would still get in, even if they lose.

That's not a likely scenario, but stranger things have happened.
