Re: Ferentz to KC Talk (rumored)
The only better question than Why would they hire KF? Is, How can Pioli keep his job? This years Chiefs team is one of the worst NFL teams I can remember. It's sad to say but the suicide tragedy brought that franchise closer together, otherwise I think they had planned on cleaning house.
The only bigger turnoff than finding out a woman smokes, is finding out she's a Husker fan. -

If Kirk left, the cupboard wouldn't be completely bare, but the next guy in line would definitely have his work cut out for him. People forget that Iowa WAS Minnesota or Purdue when Ferret-face took over. Contrary to revisionist history Ferentz didn't take over with all kinds of momentum from the Fry tenure and only had to keep the ball rolling. Fry's last season was a train wreck that took several years to recover from, and not only did they recover but he got them all the way to an "Orange-colored" Rose Bowl (that year when their only regular season loss was that come-from-behind Seneca Wallace win).
It really all depends on the hire. We all know the Big 10 isn't a bastion of strength, and the right guy (whether that's Ferentz or not) can get that program turned around in a hurry. The wrong guy, however, could bury that program to depths not seen since the 1970s and earlier.

Re: Ferentz to KC Talk (rumored)
He's stuck at $3.8MM per year. He needs a raise. KC can come through with $4.5 plus.
IC will have to pony up more than 4, change program direction, lose all coaches and some players and recruits, cause Squawk fans to hesitate and cause pause for a couple more years.
I can hope.

The only thing Mayan about Pioli keeping his job is like the cyclic calendar of the Mayans, the Chief's suckitude will go on forever, with only slight cyclic variations in the level of suck.

Center the argument around things like loyalty, Top Ten finishes years ago, and the words "Orange Bowl."
Ignore the subpar seasons and bounce passing quarterbacks, and you've got yourself the beginnings of a beautiful thread.

Closet Raiders fan, man...so that's from an "I'm there with you" POV. Finally gave up a few years ago and said I was done until Davis died...trying to figure out if it's safe to care again.

Signing Warren Sapp finished me off. I wasn't going to cheer for that.

Re: Ferentz to KC Talk (rumored)
Reality of the fact is, Ferentz can rebound after a bad year. He's a good coach with a reputation of putting guys in the NFL. If they were able to successfully run him out of town in IC, that would be great news for ISU.
Iowa fan pushing for Ferentz to leave town reeks of the Dr. Tom situation, I think we all know how that turned out.
