When you fire a guy who's been successful like Lovie, you need to have a plan in place. It's clear that Emery did not. It makes you wonder how long Emry had been thinking about it and if he had candidates in mind.

Trestman isn't my top choice but as long as the new coach has an offensive background, I won't be upset with whoever Emery chooses. And it's ridiculous to say Emery doesn't have a plan. I know why you're saying that but just because he's interviewing 12 guys, doesn't me he doesn't have a plan. If you're going to be interviewing candidates, you might as well interview as many as you can to gain info on other teams or to get more ideas.

I would rather they hire someone who has actually been involved in coaching within the last five years. Also, if a GM is making a move based on what the exciting hire is or who the fans want, well then the franchise has a lot deeper problems.

What is Dick Jaraun (sp?) doing? They could always rehire him!

Re: Chicago coaching search
Best coach out there without a job is Lovie. Hm, don't think they'll be hiring him.

As a poster just said a few posts ago, they need to get this right. If they hire an assistant it could be great, but they have to get it right or things will get bad quick.

Re: Chicago coaching search
Jimmy Johnson back tracked on his tweet from earlier this morning. Trestman may eventually be the guy but it's not close to happening. They're interviewing Dennison today, they guy I want, the Seahawks OC tomorrow and Arians on Sunday. I bet they narrow it down sometime next week and the new coach is announced soon there after.l

Re: Chicago coaching search
From the sounds of it, the Bears are down to 2 candidates, Seahawks OC Bevell and Montreal's AFL HC Trestman. https://twitter.com/BradBiggs -
Re: Chicago coaching search
Arians is also a finalist.

Re: Chicago coaching search
Sounds like the job goes to Marc Trestman.I'm surprised.

Excessive intake of alcohol, we all know, kills brain cells, but naturally it attacks the slowest and weakest brain cells first. In this way regular consumption of beer eliminates the weaker brain cells, making the brain a faster and more efficient machine. That's why you always feel smarter after a few beers. -

Re: Chicago coaching search
Now official, Marc Trestman is the new coach of the Chicago Bears. I, on the other hand, think this is a great hire. He has had OC experience in the NFL and coached the raiders in 2002 when they went to the Super Bowl. Yeah the CFL HC may not look all that attractive on paper but it sounded like he did pretty well there. Im excited for next year to see what he can do!

I don’t care where you come from, whether it’s Texas, Florida, California, or right here in the state of Iowa, I don’t care about any of that… But what I did care about is moving forward from that day on, that we were one team." -Paul Rhoads -

Re: Chicago coaching search
I love this hire. Love the outside the box approach.
