Question for the Green Bay Packer fans out there
Do any fellow GB Packer fans want to see Dom Capers return as defensive coordinator next season?
He has to be the MOST overrated defensive coordinator ever IMO. He needs to go now. Any of us casual football fans would have known what to do to stop the SF read option last week, but not only did Capers not seem to prepare for it ahead of time, he also made no adjustments during the game to stop it either.
Ron Jaworski, after watching the game live and several times on tape afterwards, could not believe his eyes on just how bad of defense GB play schematically in that game and how we made no adjustments whatsoever all night long either.
Our 2 OLBs, which are basically stand up DEs in GB's 3-4, Matthews and Walden, kept crashing full bore all night long off the edge. They NEVER kept containment on the edge like they are supposed to against the read option. Every single time that Kaepernick faked the handoff up the gut to Gore, Matthews and Walden crashed from the ends on Gore, and did not keep containment, and therefore gave Kaepernick the wide open edge every time.
And not only that, but as Jaworski commented, we were always in man to man in the secondary, so when Kaepernick would take off, all of our DBs were looking at the WRs and not upfield as Kaepernick would run right past them on the way to the endzone. It was just pathetic. I can't believe he's not been fired as defensive coordinator yet.

I sure don't. Can't stop the run. Of course, they probably don't see the run much in practice with the GB offense, but that was pathetic. i know Peterson is a great back but part of those 200 yard games against the Packers was the awful defense.

There should be no reason he returns

Re: Question for the Green Bay Packer fans out there
I still have nightmares of us blitzing outside while the 49ers qb runs straight up the middle.
Can the Packers defense get any better with a different coach when we commit so many resources to "weapons"?

Re: Question for the Green Bay Packer fans out there
I would be okay with them canning him but I might give him one more year. The defense was plagued with injury the last couple years and the defense is clearly lacking playmakers.

Re: Question for the Green Bay Packer fans out there
I'm really concerned about play at linebacker other than Matthews. I guess that new one we got was injured early so can't really tell, but I am just not a fan of AJ Hawk. i know he probably had a lot of tackles, but he just seems slow to me.

Re: Question for the Green Bay Packer fans out there
Yea AJ Hawk is not good (amazes me how many times he rides a ball carrier 10 yards before he tackles them) and it didn't help losing Perry when it looked like he was starting to get the hang of things. Our entire linebacking core seems pretty soft outside of Clay. Probably need to go after an ILB in this draft.

Thank God I'm not alone in thinking this. He needs to be fired right away. GB's D isn't great but to be as bad as it has been is unacceptable.

Is it silly of me to hope the Packers get Knott or Klein?

Re: Question for the Green Bay Packer fans out there
Also would love to cut Tramon Williams. Packers are paying him 5-6 mil to be a bucket of ***.

He has missed a lot of time over the last few years but was playing pretty good before that.

I think there are serious questions that should be asked with the team conditioning. It is unreal how many players are injured week in and week out for the last 3 seasons.

Every off-season I always see in mock-drafts that AJ Hawk should be traded. Maybe this will be the year it finally happens.

It's also unbelievable how unprepared this defense has seemed at times. The offense can only bail them out for so long. Even with injuries, the personnel on defense should warrant something better
