Even West Virgina felt so strongly against it that they split apart from Virginia. There was a effort right from the start to free the slaves, but it got set aside so that the southern states would sign the Constitution.
I think history in general will tell you that most people have always detested slavery, just the wealthy who benefited from it was for it.
Regardless, that is a poor example because it has nothing to do with intent. Only Brady knows the answer, everything else is just opinion. It doesn't matter if you are on the side of popular opinion or not because it is still just an opinion.

Re: Tom Brady's slide. Intentional?
Wait, Ed Reed wasn't flagged and fined for that blatant disregard for player safety? I mean he was running at full speed, what would happen if he hit somebody? And then he runs into Tom Brady's leg? He could have torn Tom's ACL. Surely there is a rule in place to protect the quarterback in situations like this... -

Re: Tom Brady's slide. Intentional?
I might need to check some facts, but its a pretty safe bet that 100% of slaves disagreed with slavery. They are people too, Cy4Patriots.

Re: Tom Brady's slide. Intentional?
Many more people, North and South, were in favor of slavery than rich white Southerners.
The vast majority of poor Southern whites supported slavery wholeheartedly. A huge number, and possibly a majority, of Northern businessmen with Southern dealing supported slavery, because it supported their bottom line.
Slavery still wasn't right, but it wasn't a tiny minority of Americans supporting it.

It was absolutely intentional. Because it's Tom Brady and the Patriots they won't be penalized.

My point wasn't that it was only rich, white land owning Southerners being in favor of slavery, but that a majority of people (including slaves, since slaves were people too) were against it. But yes, there were many people from the North and South that did approve of it.

Just a question for Cyforpatriots, were you defending Suh from Detroit when he put his leg up against Schaub and the Texans. I'm sure he was protecting himself.

It's such ****. If a defender tries anything remotely close to this, its 15 yards and a fine from the NFL. Completely intentional, **** Brady, and I'm glad the Patriots lost.

Honestly, since my major prof deals with slavery for a living, I can tell you that there were plenty of slaves that preferred the known to the unknown.
I think anyone would be hard-pressed to show that a majority were opposed to slavery, no matter how badly I want that to be the case.

Thread Derailment: Weren't there some documented cases of some slaves having no idea what to do when they were freed? And ended up share cropping because it was all they knew?
