My problem with it is that as a QB, when you slide, you are off-limits. There's penalties in place to take care of a Defender who hits you. I the QBs are going to start taking action against Defenders during the slide, then they definitely need to look at this. I agree that I really don't have a problem with him getting away with it this time. It's one of those, "What are we going to call" situations anyways. I just can't help but think though, if this were Flacco, or any other non Superstar QB, would it have still been a no-call. Maybe, probably, but my New England hatred has me thinking otherwise.

agreed. There are already protections in place for a sliding QB. Certainly BRady is aware of that. Reed was far enough away to avoid making significant contact with Brady, evidenced by the fact that he did just that. Why the need for the Ty Cobb slide then?
Re: Tom Brady's slide. Intentional?
I've seen a lot of slides in baseball like that when people steal 2nd base. They usually don't end well.
Intentional and should be punished.

I broke my wrist getting slid into like this covering the bag.

I agree. It looks like it was to protect himself for whatever reason. Considering how many times a QB has to slide I think it is strange that he had that reflex. Still it looked involuntary, like someone putting their hands over their face.
Regardless, it is hard to judge intent in such cases. If they make a ruling on it this off season I hope it is consistent with what they have done in the past for any other player and intent isn't a determining factor..

What's your point? Should Brady be suspended? Fined? All dangerous plays start with one player.
I suspect the NFL will review the play and make a rule change in the future. Who knows? Maybe they will fine him. They do have a history of fining players for incidents where a foul was never even called.

It should just be something the competition committee looks at for next year. In theory it should be a penalty IMO, and in the future a potential fine depending on circumstances.
Re: Tom Brady's slide. Intentional?
Saying Brady did this just to protect himself is laughable.
Re: Tom Brady's slide. Intentional?
It should be a penalty under current rules. Seems like unsportsmanlike conduct to me.

Also could fall under "unnecessary roughness"
Re: Tom Brady's slide. Intentional?
That was an intentional kick. If a qb is truly trying to protect during a slide you curl up, you don't throw an appendage out. That was stupid by Brady because reed could have seriously injured his knee.

Exactly right.
1. It was intentional. Any qb truly trying to protect himself doesn't go spikes up.
2. This should get called to PROTECT qbs. Imagine that Brady gets his foot right into Reed's gut and Reed then flops. Brady's right knee could get shredded.
The argument that Brady was trying to protect himself is nonsense.

I hope you are kidding. Apologize? For what? Should Pollard apologize to Ridley?
C'mon. Did Reed get hurt?

"Throw the flag, ref! That's a personal foul!"
"On the Quarterback, coach? Are you kidding me?"

Oh, and BTW. He didn't have spikes on. He had turf shoes.
