What happened to Panama tonight is like what happened to William Wallace at the end of Braveheart except imagine William Wallace has his tongue ripped out first so he can't even cry out "Freedom!" as he dies. And that title from the SB Nation article is awesome. De nada, Mexico.
I had a friend talking about how he was hoping we would lose to screw over Mexico. I can't bring myself to cheer against any of my teams but when Panama scored to make it 2-1 I have to say I was surprisingly calm. When Zusi put it in all I could do was laugh. I mean, how ridiculous was all of that!? Nobody could have written a ****** as entertaining as tonight was. Just absolute insanity.
The US was playing a 3-5-2 at the end there! Where the hell did that come from?
And Chicharito's continued ability to crap the bed is hilarious.
I feel for the Panamaniacs but they don't deserve to go to Brazil and neither does Mexico.
I'm gonna have to go pick up a New Zealand jersey.
...This isn't the random thought's thread is it?
That tells me JK made the right call sending the vets home and letting the guys still fighting for a roster spot play most of the minutes. Win or lose, at least he put a team on the pitch that came to play.
I love seeing Boyd and Johansson and I'm sure others hugging the Panama players. I think that is one of the reasons this team has done so much better than Mexico, Klinsmann has done an awesome job of forcing players to better themselves and also remain humble (He even made Jozy and Donovan both fight for spots). Comforting the guys whose dreams you just crushed shows the level of respect they have for their opponents and that's pretty awesome.
Mexico is firing their coach.....again. At some point, you've got to think that maybe the problem isn't the guy standing on the side of the pitch. And if their team is in that much disarray, you're probably going to have to give a coach more than a couple matches to get things turned around.
