USMNT - World Cup qualifying - The Hexagonal
The US has their first match in the Hex next week, but there is also a friendly tonight against Canada on ESPN2. The squad tonight would probably be considered the B team (mostly MLS guys), but there will be some interesting things to watch. A good performance out of Omar Gonzalez would be huge. It would be nice to see him use January camp to vault himself into the senior squad like Cameron & Zusi did last year. Bocanegra isn't getting any younger & the US really needs Omar (or somebody else) to step up into that void.
The defense may be patchwork against Honduras regardless as Cherundolo and Fabian Johnson both missed matches recently due to injury. Maybe Klinsmann can use the injury situation to get Chandler into camp over the weekend and get him cap tied next week. And for those who are curious, here's the schedule for the US for all of their WC qualifiers.
Feb 6 @ Honduras
Mar 22 Costa Rica
Mar 26 @ Mexico
June 7 @ Jamaica
June 11 Panama
June 18 Honduras
Sept 6 @ Costa Rica
Sept 10 Mexico
Oct 11 Jamaica
Oct 15 @ Panama

It also sounds like the Brek Shea to Stoke transfer is back on. It will be interesting to see if this works out for Shea. I could see it going either way, but if Stoke is paying $4m you'd have to think this isn't just a wing-and-a-prayer move for them.
And I just saw this on another blog...
» The Hitman, Brian Sciaretta, took to Twitter this morning to annoucne that Nurnberg confirms that US RB Tim Chandler has accepted an invitation to play for the US next week in Honduras. Can you say “CAP-THAID!”

Also must recommend http://www.socceroverthere.com.
They almost always have highlights/videos of goals that American players have scored overseas.

By the way, apparently the ref stopped the game for over 5 minutes and was going to call it off after the Den Bosch crowd made continual racist chants toward Jozy. According to some dutch newspaper I found they only finished the game because Jozy said he wanted to, then he scored not long after. Crazy that these kinds of things still happen...

From what I read, they called the match off entirely. Maybe I misinterpreted, though.
