Because even military marching bands don't play it the way it's supposed to be played, either. Seriously? 30 second drumroll to start the anthem? All those clashing cymbals? How dare they add to the National Anthem?

I've never understood why sporting events have to start with it. Why don't movies start with it?

I actually kinda liked it BUT I think it doesn't belong on the broadcast necessarily. The artists try and make it their own then there is the obligatory camera shots of the athletes trying to look patriotic...

Not the greatest I've heard, but definitely not the worst (that goes to a group I heard sing at a MBB game when I was in school). I'd give it about a 6.5/10.

Most people don't realize that FSK intended the song to be accompanied by a 7 kazoo ensemble with 2 slide whistles.

Actually, at military base theaters, they do start with the national anthem....or at least did.
Alicia Keyes did not do the worst version I ever heard, but it was definitely about her, not about unbridled patriotism. She has some pretty typically ignorant comments after 911....google them. She is a Hater.
