I've been a Vikings fan since the Joe Kapp days...yes that dates me severely. The past few years have been perhaps the worst time period I can remember as far as the quarterback position is concerned. I've never been sold on the Ponder draft. When you are that high in the draft you go after someone proven or you go through free agency. The lack of a consistent QB game will continue to plague this team. Of course that and a porous defense doesn't help either. :)

Actually, that would be very bad. They need someone who will not throw the ball away. The reason Favre was a gun slinger is because he never trusted the RB to do the job. They have that with Peterson. Watch the Chiefs this year. No turnovers in 3 games, good defense, solid running game. Winning!
You do realize AP was on the team when Favre was, right?
As a Viking victim (fan) I actually prefer bad starts to the season. That way I don't have to waste my Sundays following a team that will let me down in the end. I prefer they just get the choking done right away.
Another plus to the season is I don't have to look at Favre. I'll never take that for granted.
Hopefully you get to. I thought about it earlier this week and realized I'll be at the last home opener at the Dome.
That's kind of why we will probably go. I didn't grow up a Vikings fan by my wife is from MN and from an insane Vikings family. So by default my two older kids are now Vikings fans (my second grade son is a HUGE Vikings fan). So this game will mean something to my wife and him.
It took me awhile to admit to her but she has turned me into a Vikings fan. I guess it was more my son than her, he likes to grab the Ipad and open the Vikings app and watch any new interviews or reports from practice everyday after school. So of course this has turned into us having conversations about Vikings players and what they were talking about etc. He's gotten to meet most of the Vikings players at training camp the last two years and they have been great with him as well. AP and Greenway even stopped and talked to him for quite awhile so he thinks they are his buddies.
We have tickets for the last game at the dome and this weekends. With harvest coming soon not sure how many more games I will be able to get him to so we will most likely go this weekend.
That was my first thought as well. AP had a big year even with Favre there.
Still, this is an anamoly for the most part. The gunslingers like Brady, Brees, and Rodgers (and even Stafford) throw like they do because they don't have a running game (and a defense a lot of the time). They have to throw. Peterson got a lot of the yards with Favre on the team because they were running out the clock in victories. For someone to say they need someone like Favre, they have to remember how they got him and how hard those QBs are to come by. Who is the young gunslinger in the league that would be able to come to the Vikings?
