Jared Allen says the Chiefs haven't approached him about a contract extension yet.
Allen was asked how much he's worth: "A hundred million?" he said. "I want to be a billionaire." Allen was kidding, but the lack of extension talks about Carl Peterson's hard-line reputation lead to only one conclusion: Allen is going to be franchise tagged.

Laughing stock isn't King Carl's goal...he's as embarrassed about 4-12 as anyone at 1 Arrowhead Drive. His goal is and has been getting the Chiefs to slightly better than 8-8. That way he can play the game of "this might be our year" when he signs some crappy free agent during the off season.
Ex: Coming off of the 13-3 season, he signed and touted Kendrell Bell and Sammy Knight as saviors for the D. I think the Chiefs went 9-7 that year and missed the playoffs due to a tie-breaker. The next year they knew they needed help at corner, so King Carl signed Ty Law.
King Carl is the master at selling hope to the season ticket holders - "this might be our year". To their credit, Kansas City fans are patient, and support their team very well. 4-12 is a disaster for Carl...there were plenty of fans dressed as empty seats at Arrowhead for the second half of the season.
Plain and simple, King Carl needs to have the greatest draft in the history of the Chiefs this year. He can't afford any more flops...I just don't think that he has it in him, and the momentum from 4-12 will probably build to wash him (and possibly Herm) right out of town.
It will be interesting if they try to draft a QB with their 5th overall pick - giving a vote of no confidence to Brodie Croyle - or if they spend that pick on an Outland Trophy winner (preferably left tackle). I don't know if Croyle is the answer (signs point to no right now), but it's hard to evaluate a QB with a patchwork O-line and a less than stellar stable of running backs. Brodie's 0-6 were without LJ, and it's hard to throw down field when you're on your back.

Re: The Chiefs need to fire Herm the Destroyer
I would not draft a QB first round and instead sign or trade for a veteran FA for the time being. Derek Anderson is a free agent and he would definately be an upgrade. The Browns have a big problem because you don't want to let him get away without compensation but you also have Brady Quinn in waiting too which would be another Brees/Rivers issue like the Chargers had. I'd even take Quinn if the Browns are willing to trade at a reasonable price. A 2nd rounder and another later pick or future pick I might be able to swallow, especially with Carl's terrible draft history they'd likely be wasted picks anyways.

Atlanta needs a QB so Ryan will be gone. Brohm looks inviting but I do not see that.
Herm is a Defensive minded so most likely Chris long from Virginia-
I would like to see Ryan Clady OT from Boise State
Chiefs can go 3th,4th, or 5th since Atlanta, Oakland and the Chiefs have the same record and is subject to a coin flip

Bill Callahan might be an upgrade for Herm.
Might Kirk F take a gander at this job?
No, Herm has not been fired, but it is just a matter of time. CyBookie time on Herm the Destroyer.

Herm makes a better Defensive coach then a headcoach we all know this.

There is a reason that Carl Peterson NOT being fired is front page news on NFL.com, its because he has been a joke, it has nothing to do with the coaching. In his five years as Jets coach, Edwards had a 39-41 record, including a 2-3 record in the playoffs and a 5-15 stretch during his final 20 regular season games with the club, In 2005, a year marred by injuries, inconsistent play, lack of player development, and rumors swirling about Edwards possibly leaving the organization, Edwards led the Jets to a woeful 4-12 record.
Teams coached by Edwards have typically started most seasons with poor performances, leading to speculation that Edwards does a poor job of preparation in the preseason. Additionally, Edwards' record on opening day of the NFL season is 2-5, and his teams have been outscored 186-125 (including 70-20 in the last 3 season openers, all losses) in these games.
For a player who made his name in the NFL on a time management gaffe, Edwards has committed a variety of time management decisions that vary from perplexing to embarrassing.
These gaffes have been quite frustrating to the fans of the teams coached by Edwards.
Edwards' game plans have often been criticized as too conservative with little or no imagination.
A prime example of Edwards' game plans, the lone Chiefs 2007 playoff game was one of the worst offensive performances in recent history.
Edwards was criticized for a post-game locker room speech following a 30-7 pre-season loss to the New Orleans Saints which was featured on Episode 5 of Hard Knocks. In the speech, Edwards admits that he "did a bad job" in preparing the team for the game.
Edwards has been accused of running multiple running backs into the ground, most notably Curtis Martin and Larry Johnson.
This ****** me off the most, I DID NOT ACCEPT HIS APOLOGY.(News Room)
I also was against his hire from the beginning. All he is , is another puppet for Carl that will take his crap, and do what he wants them (coaches) to do.
“People aren’t used to this in Kansas City. Get over it! It happens. It’s called life. You can’t think you’re too big that it’s not going to happen to you. It happens to everybody."
Expect JAred Allen not to be in uniform next year cause Herm probably thinks he is to old and wants to much money. I guess I can wait for the draft and see him get mediocre players.

Re: The Chiefs need to fire Herm the Destroyer
If the chiefs keep herm and karl, they better do all they can to beef up the o-line so I would expect a lineman with the first pick. Although it wouldn't surprise me if they traded down in the 1st and picked up more draft picks. They are really thin about everywhere. Of course if they lose allen to FA, they will probably go d-line with the first pick. As a chiefs fan it is fun being in the mix this early in the draft for once.
