Spring training/favorite team
Spring training starts in 40 days. I can't wait. I was just wondering who the favorite team is on here.

St. Louis Cardinals...the proud 2008 owners of 4th place in the NL Central.

Re: Spring training/favorite team
I guess, being a Pirates fan, I'd be under the "other" tab on a poll.

Sorry I didn't put down the Indians or a few favorites. I tried to put mostly midwest teams, and a few that are popular all over.

Braves. But it's too early to think about it. You still have the Superbowl and March Madness.

Cardinals all the way. I'm curious to see how this Rolen for Glaus trade works out. I think it's a matter of which player comes off of surgery better. I'm about 60% sure that Rolen will never get back to his pre-injury self, but the other part of me fears he will be back with avengence this year for the Jays.

I think that there should at least be a selection for "Others."

Re: Spring training/favorite team
I have lost so much respect for baseball, it's very disheartening. This used to be by far m favorite sport. After the big strike though, I just lost more and more interest. Now, the fact that our government is involved in their whole HGH/steroid issue, it just makes me care even less. Honestly, if my tax dollars could be put to better use, I'd rather baseball fold all together.
Sorry to rain on your guys' parade here. I don't mean to do that so much. It's just that I am really depressed as to what baseball has come to. I don't have a favorite team at all anymore, but, where I live it's all Cubs and Sox. I'm sure it will be an intersting year.

Cardinals since I was about 5 years old. I just want to know when they're going to get some pitchers that aren't always hurt and or don't suck.

So do you like any sports? college? high school? They are all dealing with the same issue. Baseball is just getting the brunt of it...

Re: Spring training/favorite team
Scotty Rolen was one of my favorite players, but I think the Cards got the better end of the deal Salary Cap wise. This is supposed to be a rebuilding year for the cards, but I think their hitting will be there, considering Yadier Molina is always improving, Ryan Ludwick has pretty good power, Ankiel is a good all around player, and there's albert. I am a little worried about the pitching staff now though.

Wait, are you saying Kip Wells was NOT a good signing?! You sir, are in the wrong! Just kidding...that was the worst pitching performance (for the entire season) that I have ever seen. I could not believe the Cards kept trotting him out there when he was 1-10, 2-13 or whatever! He drove me insane because he would pitch 2 innings, give up 9 runs then in the post-game interview he'd be like "I felt like I had good stuff today, just missed with a few pitches and gave up some key walks" Are you insane?! Sorry for the rant -

Glaus' numbers look a lot like pre-battered Rolen, so I'm a hopeful that the Cards can come out ahead in this trade. I wish Rolen nothing but the best in Toronto. Added Matt Clement this offseason. Probably going to be a bust. I'm somewhat hopeful he'll be back to form. I will enjoy watching Wainwright continue to improve. Mostly I can't wait for Carpenter to return (may not happen until September). I have zero expectations that Mulder will ever be serviceable for us again. We'll find out in May if he's worth anything.
