Shawn Johnson on Yahoo.com Homepage.

Just noticed she was on the homepage. She is going to be a marketing dream for the olympics. I hope she can handle the pressure.

Re: Shawn Johnson on Yahoo.com Homepage.

That's a really nice story. The story is a nice bit of recognition for Shawn, and her success in gymnastics provides some nice recognition for the state of Iowa. I hope she keeps it going all the way through the Olympics.

BvK, you've got to quit making so much sense because I "must spread some rep around" before giving more to you.

If she wins gold she will be doing all the major talk shows, hosting SNL, cameos on TV shows, Wheaties box, etc... She is much more attractive then other gold medal winning gymnasts so her fame will take off.

Now if we can get Jay Ronayne to recruit her after she's done diddling around in the Olympics. I mean, after all, you're not accomplished until you're a Cyclone...

Spending 6 hours on a saturday practicing. Now that is dedication for a 16 year old.

Never put off until tomorrow what you can avoid all together.

Ellen is AAA, I was referring to the big leagues; Letterman, Leno and Oprah!

I'm not sure where it went. That is what Yahoo does. They put something under there "featured" section and then it disappears never to be found again.

You know, I was actually wondering about this while watching the Olympic trials. Do elite Olympic calibur gymnists typically go on to compete on college teams, or is that just such a step down that it doesn't happen? Most of these girls aren't yet college age, and I can't imagine putting that much time and energy into something and walk away at 16 years old, but short of going on to a college team, I'm not sure what other competitive options they have, unless they have a shot to repeat at the Olympics.
