Santana is traded to the Mets. It's all over most sport websites. Looks like the Twins got a lot of garbage in return. I hope at least 2 of the 4 "prospects" pan out. Could be a long year for the Twins pitching staff.

At least they got something for him. They would have lost him to free agency after this year because they wouldn't have paid him the $20 million per year he would fetch on the open market.

at least we can stop talking about this now... good for him and the twins get some prospects... i would have loved for him to come to the cubs, but we need all the ammo we can get to go after brian roberts and eric bedard of the orioles

This is what the Mets needed last year. I'm a Braves fan, so that doesn't help us.

Can we get a salary cap, please?

grrrrrr... i dislike the mets so much and even moreso that they made this trade without giving up fernando martinez. What were the twins thinking? this is definitely the steal of the offseason, that is for sure.

and the Rookie GM makes his first major mistake... Bad Bad trade. He needed to get out in front of Santana's agent who was scaring off all but the big money teams. They NEEDED teams like the Dodgers and Angels involved, teams that actually have prospects. The Red Sox low balled and the Yankees had nothing to offer. The Orioles are getting a better return on Bedard, pretty sad...

The Twins will be lucky if Gomez turns into an average CF and if 1 of the pitchers even crack the rotation this year. If in 3 years Gomez is a solid CF and 2 of the pitchers are good pitchers and both in the rotation that this trade will be a success. As of right now it looks like Bill Smith got cheated hardcore!

Humber may be ready, but he isn't ready to be a horse. Guerra was 2-6 with a 4.01 in the Florida State League, a pitcher friendly High A league so he is at the minimum 2 years away. Humber hasn't done well at all above AA...

Wow, of all the trades they were offered I think they took the wrong one. At least he didn't go to the Yankees I guess...

Carlos Gomez = Christian Guzman.
Must've come down to the Mets prospects and 13 mil off the books this year vs. The rest of Santana's contract and 2 first round compensation picks next year.
So pretty much lose-lose-lose..........
