Pau Gasol Traded to Lakers

ESPN just reported that Pau Gasol has been traded to the Lakers for Kwame Brown and Jevaris Critterion as well as a couple draft picks.

Lakers could be considerably better with Pau on the team and even better when Bynum gets back (whenever that may be).

Kwame Brown is possibly the biggest bust in the history of the NBA. I think that Crittenton can develop into something special though. Plus, two draft picks will be a lot of help for the Grizzlies, especially in a draft class as deep as this one is expected to be.

i met pau briefly at the memphis airport last year on a stopover from jamaica. he was just flying in from the world bball championships they had in china i believe and he had broken his leg or something. went up and talked to him for a minute and the dude is huge. i'm 6-4 and taller then most people i talk to so it was weird to have to look straight up in the air when i was talking to him. seemed like a really down to earth guy.

Wow, Memphis really cut back on their demand from last year. Didn't they want Ben Gordon, Luol Deng, Ty Thomas, and a 1st from the Bulls? Sounds like they sold a little low here, possibly a salary dump.

Wow, the Lakers got a steal and Mephis got screwed on that. Brown is a joke and who the heck is this Critterion guy? I bet you the Bulls still could have cut them a better deal now with someone like Nocioni or Joakim Noah as part of the deal. Both those guys I'd rather have than Brown.

I'm a Lakers fan, and watching KB play is just painful. He has the physical traits to be a dominating center, but just can't seem to pull it off.

Regarding Gasol, this is only a good pickup if he can actually play. He's missed three of his last four games with a sore back.

No nBA teams always do that sitting their guy preparing the team to play without them, knowing he's going to be traded. They always list it as a sore back or knee or something usually from packing up their house.

Crittendon is a rookie point guard who was a freshman at G. Tech last year. I think he can be a great player as he has great size for a PG and can really distribute well.

With Farmar coming on strong and being young they really don't need Crittendon that bad.

I love this trade as a Lakers fan. Getting rid of Kwame and a little-used guard in return for Gasol is great. Now if only Bynum, Ariza, and Mihm can return from their injuries, they wouldn't be half bad.

Joe Smith?

He was first pick ahead of Rasheed, Garnett, and I believe Mike Finley. Also he a McHale worked really well together to get some well-worth-it under the table deals.

lakers are now the best in the west when bynum is healthy... imo lakers will win the title in 6 games vs the celtics
