It didn't help that he had absolutely no time to throw the ball for most of the game. I didn’t expect Belichick to lose after he wore his “dressy” cut-off sweatshirt. I did expect Fox to show Peyton Manning 9 times during the game (we counted). I didn’t expect Aikman to talk 1/10 of the time Joe Buck did. I didn’t expect the Bud Light commercials to be subpar. And Eli, please close your mouth once in a while. | | |

Great game....great game... I've liked and followed the giants since 1986 when they won the superbowl so I'm glad to see them win last night. I hold no hatred for the Patriots. I don't like Bellichek but he is a strange figure. I find it odd, though, that the media and fans are all saying how the Patriots blew it and couldn't get to the perfect season. Really? They blew it? They went to the superbowl and played a tough giants team tooth and nail and were 18-0 prior to the game last night.
If that is "blowing it", I wish more of the teams I follow could "blow it".

Actually the '84/'85 49ers and the '85/'86 Bears both won 18 games, finishing 18-1. Obviously those 2 teams won their Super Bowls, while the Pats finish a "disappointing" 18-1 with their SB loss.

If you don't like the NFL hiring system, then go get a "regular" job and work for (relative) chump change. Otherwise, play by the NFL rules that everybody else has to. I'm sure there are always players that don't like who drafted them (or who is planning to draft them), but unfortunately they don't have an influential father who can throw a hissy fit and circumvent the system.
From 2004-2007 the SDC records have been 12-4, 9-7, 14-2, 11-5, while the NYG records have been 6-10, 11-5, 8-8, 10-6. It's not exactly like the Chargers have been some horrible team relative to the Giants. Who knows...had Eli went to SD, he might have had his SuperBowl sooner.
That said, Eli has taken a pounding from the NY media, and I'm glad he and the Giants won. He played a wonderful game last night. That said, IMO, it still doesn't justify how Eli and Archie behaved during Eli's draft.

I'm fully aware that the Chargers have a better regular season record than the Giants during Eli's NFL career so far - but he's got a title and the Chargers do not. And I'd venture to guess him being in San Diego would have little to no bearing on them being in the SB - as Eli didn't start playing consistently good football until later this year. Plus, he would've been behind Brees his first two years.

I think Eli would be in San Diego if it weren't for Archie's insistence that he didn't end up there. I think Archie saw too many parallels of his playing days in New Orleans with what was going on in San Diego at the time and didn't want Eli to have the same kind of career that he had. That being said, San Diego certainly had more success than the Giants did early in Eli's career...
